Yesterday's Condo

Well, kids... we've been here a year! It's amazing how fast time has flown by, it's amazing the good health my boy is in despite everything. It's always makes me laugh... to just objectively describe Willie... 15-16 year old cat with diabetes, an incurable autoimmune disease affecting his skin, no teeth, etc., well, people look at me like I'm crazy. And then they meet him, and watch him keep up with his little sister 15 years his junior... so playful, happy and HEALTHY, and it's like a lightbulb goes off.

I'll have more to say tonight or this weekend... don't want to get too choked up here at the office, but this past year has taught me so much... about patience (pants), grace, humility, and the importance of a giving and loving spirit. So many people say that Willie is so blessed to have me as a mamabean, but it is I whom is blessed.

I count as one of my greatest blessings this amazing community. It is truly an honor to be a participant here, to know all of you and to count you as my friends and my family. The spirit of this place is indeed magical and I don't know what I'd have ever done without it. Our lives are so much richer because of your presence in it.

So while Willie remains OnTJ and may do so for his remaining time in this life, today is a day of joyous celebration in my home. From the bottom of my heart, thank you ALL for your kindness, generosity and friendship.

It's great that Willie is doing so well in spite of all his challenges! I'm with you on the effect the great people of this forum has had for us. I feel so close to everyone here. It amazes me to think that if I saw one of you on the street I wouldn't even know it. Or do you all glow in person like you do online?

Awww Christie that made me choke up a little. I think anyone of us can relate to how you feel, Willie is doing so wonderful and Happy 1 year Anniversary!!

Christie I do remember when you first came, the fear, anxiety, despair we all feel when we get here--
And look at you now!! A Happy & Healthy boy, doing fantastically, and a bean who has come so far as we beans do here--Did you ever read my post What my FD cat has taught me.?

Christie and Willie, Happy Anniversary! You and I joined around the same time and both our babies are doing so much better than before we found this place. Yes, it truly is a terrific, supportive, and magical place.

Happy Anniversary!! What a happy boy you have. Time does fly and it is a great time to reflect. Amazing how close you and Willie have become and how well he is doing. What a great pair you are and I am thankful every day that you are in my life. Congratulations and party big tonight! (But no kibble Willie!)

It is so great to see how well you have done this year. Christie, everything you say is "right on". I don't know how we could carry on alone with FD (actually, I do know, having done it for 4 angst-filled years with Stu before I found this board). I love this community and everyone in it. Willie, Rusty is looking forward to your party. It will be grand!

Happy Anniversary. That sounds weird to be celebrating a year of FD. I think it takes more than a village -- it takes a community. Thanks for being a part of this community.

A bit of a boo hiss on tonight's number, but would an annifursary be without a fur shot?!? :lol: :lol: :lol: Willie has spent his annifursary in the most epic of wrestling matches with his Bit Bit tonight. It just seems so fitting.

Going to grab a spot check and head to bed... still have a touch of the cold but did some gentle yoga tonight and have a tummy full of warm lentil stew... it's Ni Ni for me!!

Okay, I so wish I'd had the phone handy to catch video of this...

Willie has been demanding that Herbie play with him all night. She got tired of him, and walked over by the couch where there was an empty chipotle bag, and she climbed in. He skulked away, and she got out, looked at the bag, looked at me, then looked at the bag again with cross between the "OMG YOU GOTZ ME RIBBONS!!" LOLcat face and a "why in the he$$ have you not told me about this?!?" face. (nevermind that I tried to get her to play with a chipotle bag like two weeks ago. different bag. I eat LOTS of chipotle! :lol: :lol: :lol: ) And then she climbed inside. And wrestled and chewed and spun. Willie came back into the living room and she got out, with a look of "OMG, you SO have to try this!!" Willie looked at her in scorn, and I swear she shrugged a "well, hmpf. your loss then!!" and gleefully jumped back inside. She'd play. Then poke her head out and look at each of us. Then dive back in... wash, rinse, repeat.

Willie is not pleased with this development. Apparently, Herbie is only supposed to be entertained by HIM! :lol: :lol: :lol: All is better now, with them both having second dinner. After playing the role of server, I reassembled the Christmas tree for the billionth time. Herbie is particularly enamored with some jingle bells I have hanging on the tree that are about the size of walnuts. I swear, I'll be finding them under the sofa in June... Though, I do love that even though I don't have any presents wrapped and under the tree just yet, the cats have been depositing misc. toys there. Suppose it is their contribution!
 
Congratulations on your Anniversary! We too are blessed to have you here with us. Knowing what we know about our kits it truly is amazing to look at them and see such healty lookin cats. :-D :-D :-D
