Max has had a good couple of days now. He’s eating his homemade food with EZ complete with pork, rabbit, and some turkey. It’s not the kidney diet but he acts like he feels better on it. I know it’s not low protein, but maybe the phosphorus is low enough (still waiting for the binder to arrive.)This diet is probably not good enough for a stage 3 CKD cat, but I don’t want him feeling miserable either and all the kidney diets contain fish or chicken. He can’t eat fish at all and not much chicken or he gets tummy problems. At least that’s what seems to always happen.

Hi Lori, what a nice cycle got Max! I’m glad to hear he’s eating and feeling better.
Sending you lots of hugs for feeling great :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Neko's IM vet was OK with her continuing on with her raw homemade diet when she was stage 3/4. I agree, he's got to get protein his body can tolerate.

Yes exactly. It’s amazing the difference it makes in how Max feels. He’s more playful and affectionate. He looks more alert and happy. When I see him like this it’s hard to believe he has kidney disease. When he was feeling bad, he looked like he wasn’t going to make it another day. I knew I had to do something so I had no choice but try what I was doing when he was feeling well. I think the diagnosis just stunned me because I wasn’t expecting it to be so severe. So I felt that I needed to follow the care a CKD cat is supposed to get. I see that’s not always possible with multiple diagnosis. I wish his kidneys weren’t this bad, but mainly I want to keep him feeling good as long as possible.
