12/6 Tessa AMPS 400+ +10 177 Nervous about giving insulin tonight

Tessa got a new Libre sensor today at 2pm (+7) and her numbers have been oddly low since then. Her last BG value before going to the vet was 301 and that was 10 minutes before she left (1:50pm). Her first reading after the sensor finished activating was 245 (at 3:19pm).

I'm not sure if it's the sensor or if she's actually that low (I know it's not that low but it's low for her).

I tried testing her manually but I couldn't get a large enough sample of blood and now she's hiding from me. I am nervous about giving her insulin in less than 2 hours. If her BG drops more before it's time for her dose, should I give insulin? I gave her a small snack when I was trying to test her BG manually but it had been awhile since she had eaten before that.
 
She came out from under the bed and I was able to scan her Libre. Her BG has already jumped up to 243 so I guess I don't have that much to worry about. I do find it very strange that she doesn't get high BG readings when she's stressed though. She didn't have high readings when she was groomed nor did her numbers jump today after the vet visit. Maybe she has a delayed response?

When was the 243? Pleases add it to the spreadsheet. She hit blue which might be causing the bounce. She had a later nadir. A lot can happen in two hours so if low at +10 you need to see where she is at by pmps. If she was really low for her you could always feed a little lc and then pick up food until pmps. Nothing to worry about tonight it appears.

She might just not get as stressed as you’d think she would be? Or she might just not have stress induced hyperglycaemia as a possible response to stress (or it might be a much more mild effect in her).
 
Thank you both! It definitely could be the case that she's not super stressed at the vet but she definitely gets upset and stressed when she gets back, like she's mad at me. She's hiding under the bed and gets really annoyed when I try to scan her Libre sensor. I'm getting really concerned about how difficult life is going to be once we stop using the Libre sensors. I feel like I'm going to have a really hard time getting BG readings multiple times a day. :(
 
When Max first started getting insulin I wasn’t going to test. He was very sensitive and hid as well. I was shocked once I started how easy he was. He never hid. I gave him a special treat every time and he would wait for it even if I forgot. The same thing happened when I started to give him fluids. He hid the first time but I found a treat he loved and only gave it to him then. He accepted fluids after that too. Take it one step at a time. For me it became easier than vet visits.

It was 243 when I scanned at +10.75. Her PMPS was 399 so I did go ahead and give her insulin.

Thank you, I hope that's the case for me too. Tessa is such a nervous nelly but she does love to eat so I'm hoping that treats will help. I'm going to try to test manually (at least for pre shots) while we have this Libre sensor on her so we can get used to it but I think I'm going to give her a day or two to get over the stress of today.
