3 extended howling sessions overnight, restarted Clomicalm at 1/4 tab.

Have a good one folks.

Hi Bruce

I noticed that you're using the freestyle lite meter so I wanted to give you the heads up that everyone I know of that's used it (human and cat) has found problems with it reading lower than it should be, unfortunately Simon may not have been as close to green as you thought :? If you do a search for freestyle lite you will no doubt find an abundance of posts about it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I had to comment. Between the low readings on the freestyle lite meter and a bad vet I nearly lost Vyktor to DKA. His readings were around 200 when he was actually over 300.

Scritches to Simon.

Thanks, someone had mentioned this, and I did a few comparisons. From what I gather the Freestyle does seem
to read low in the higher numbers +200 or so, but is much better when bg is lower. On a few tests I did on same blood drop
on Simon, I got a 60 or so higher reading in the low 200s on my back-up One Touch. On same drop test on one of my civvies, the readings
were a few points off. (58 and 60) which led me to believe the FS was pretty accurate in lower readings. My thinking was/is
that the treatment strategy would not really be different if Simon was flat yellow or flat pink... and once down to blue/green
the FS was more true.

I really appreciate the tiny sample needed by the FS, a big plus with Simon. At least half his checks would be double-pricks
or worse with the One Touch, which require a comparatively huge drop.

I'm in Canada, so the Walmart Relions aren't allowed to be sold here.

EDIT: A few recent (human of course) studies rate the Freestyle very well.

Accuracy evaluation of five blood glucose monitoring systems obtained from the pharmacy: a European multicenter study with 453 subjects.

Assessment of three frequently used blood glucose monitoring devices in clinical routine.

Clinical assessment of the accuracy of blood glucose measurement devices.
