12/5 Jude | AMPS 122; +11.5 86; PMPS 99

Since I found out they're supposed to have, I've had so many in for it.:( It's gotten to the point where I just hope the doc finds no cavities or bad teeth, just like all those years with my kids.๐Ÿ˜… I'm sure he'll do smashing at it.
Still in my thoughts all the same ๐Ÿ’•

Thanks everyone for your support and kind thoughts. We are back home, and everything went well.

His x-rays were clear, showing no abscesses, etc. Unfortunately, though, Jude has what the vet called, "a pretty serious case of stomatitis." When I asked how they could treat it, she said that they typically give steroids when there is a flare, but since Jude is a diabetic, that's off the table for him. She also said they can prescribe antibiotics, but I've been doing a little bit of reading, and I hear that abs are not that effective. Apparently, the most effective, long-term treatment is full mouth dental extractions ๐Ÿ˜ญ I don't know much about stomatitis other than it is an auto-immune issue and that it causes periodic flares. So, I'm doing what I did with FD and FIC, trying to read and educate myself.

If it's any help, I've met a number of cats who had full-mouth extractions and were perfectly happy afterwards. I know it sounds scary, though. ๐Ÿซ‚

(I won't be surprised if Gen's headed that way, honestly.)

Happy to read that all went well, Mary. โค๏ธ Sorry about the stomatitis ๐Ÿ™ like he needs one more thing to deal with.

Sending healing vines now that the dental is behind him. Hope that he recovers quickly and has a safe night. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

So sorry about the stomatitis, Mary. I've read of many cats that have had full extractions and do just fine eating and living their normal lives. But what a big stressor, ugh. Thinking of you.

Also super glad to see Jude's numbers down. You should give yourself a big pat on the back for figuring that one out!

Oh no! I have the fix for stomatitis!
Stomatitis is so about inflammation. Cbd made for cats. It has to be thc-free, and thc is what gives that 'high'. So you don't get a high cat from it.๐Ÿ˜…
Cbd is useful to treat many things. Nausea, anxiety & depression, works as an appetite stimulant and is a natural anti-inflammatory. I was using it on my girl with small cell lymphoma gi. To help the inflammation in her gut. Seeing how it helped her, I decided to try it out on my boy with stomatitis. You see, my boy DID have almost all his teeth removed. But that didn't stop the problem. The inflammation was still there. Even with a nearly empty mouth, his gums were the problem. They would still get swollen. You could see it. And then the drool would begin. Sometimes even pink tinged from some blood. And really bad breath.
So! I started giving him 1.5mg of cbd in his food, twice a day. For my kind, that equaled 0.15ml, and it tasted like catnip. So he never noticed it. It took 1-2 weeks to get the full results. He used to have regular flare up at least once a month. But in the 2yrs he was on that? Not a single flare up. It was amazing! I even taught it to my vet and she tells other clients about it now. It was wonderful and he was able to have a normal life after that.
So please don't believe anyone if they tell you the removal of the teeth

Oh my gosh, I had this long thing written out. But whenever I write 'too much', the page glitches and then it froze and erased it. :(
The short. I had a cat with stomatitis. Getting rid of so the teeth does not not cure it. My boy had almost his entire mouth empty, still got at least 1 flare up every month. It was awful. Swollen gums, bad breath, and the drooling. Sometimes pink tinged from blood. The removal doesn't fix it, because it's not a tooth problem, it's an inflammation problem.
What fixed it was addressing the root cause. I used the cat cbd I had been giving my girl for the inflammation in her gut. In the entire 2yrs of giving it to him, not once did he have another flare up.
And I didn't give much. He only took 1.5mg (which was 0.5 ml for his brand) twice a day mixed in his food.
It really was a miraculous fix for him. Not a 'cure', but taking care of you the underlying cause before it a problem. Hope that helps ๐Ÿ’•

Is there a specific brand you purchase?

I have used 3. The best, but midi expensive is called Ellevet. As the name implies, it was created by vets, and mine sold me that when I said I wanted to try it on my girl with cancer. But, it tastes horrible and some cats refuse it.
So I found another, and that was Lazarus Naturals salmon oil flavored. It works next best of three I've used. But my one girl using it for bad ibd, hates the fish flavor.๐Ÿ™„ So onto #3! CBDMD's catnip flavored. 99% of cats won't notice it mixed in their food. My guy with stomatitis never noticed whether on top of dry or mixed in wet. It can take between 1-2weeks to show it's full potential. I can't recall how long it took him, but that's the usual. It can also help anxiety & depression, generational aches & pains (such as associated with arthritis), and inflammation and is a appetite stimulant. Side effects= lethargy, stomach upset, asks over grooming. I've only had 2 cats have the last, and the fix is easy. Just bump them back down in dosage. I always start at 1mg twice a day and go from there if needed

So glad to see him in such good numbers!
Sorry to hear about the stomatitis! I hope you find a treatment option in your research that works for him. Does he seem to have any discomfort with it?

Well, Iโ€™m not sure about the discomfort because Iโ€™m not sure when heโ€™s flaring with it. He has other issues that also cause pain.
