Sweet baby played with me before I went to bed last night!!!!
He was running around all crazed like a kitten again for about 5 minutes.
That was a great gift after being frustrated yesterday.
Going to be more strict with the diet today. And also talk with the vet about a .25 increase and numbers. The vet still doesn't know that I am testing. I was significantly overwhelmed and crying and I think he didn't want to overwhelm me any more than I already was. So, I will talk with him today and let him know more of what's going on. I looked through probably a dozen SS this morning paying attention to the diet notes and also how people (and kitties) handle the increases/decreases. Also noticed a significant amount of kitties OTJ. That is something that I didn't even think was a possibility! Something to hope for!
I also have to say a great big thank you again for making me go get the testing stuff that first night. 148/149 at the vet could have been a disaster if he didn't go high later on. Thinking back I think that low was from fasting. I take food away all night from all the cats, and I don't think he got a chance to eat before I took him in. I think the vet made his diagnosis based on how he looked and what I was telling him, also some mild signs of DKA, and not that number.
(Someone asked last night if Duncan had signs of DKA before, and the answer is yes. Last Friday when I took him in he was dropping wt, eating tons, drinking TONS, peeing tons, and behaving like he was sick and that day he smelled weird to me as well. He had fluids at the vet, and the rest of his blood panel showed all other organs functioning well, so we went home. He doesn't have any signs now and is feeling great and his fur is all fluffy and he just looks awesome now. So despite the numbers still being high he is doing significantly better. Makes me think those numbers were off the charts before I knew something was wrong! Scary!)
