He is eating but of course wanting the food I am giving sick civvies. I am relieved to report that both civvies are eating a few bites per meal after getting a syringe full of warm babyfood which seems to stimulate them to eat. Day 9 sick civvie needs more care than day 4 sick civvie. Both are out of hiding and slept on the bed last night. Still no sign of symptoms in Alska.

Hang in there. Sometimes, you just have to let everything run the course.

I'm hoping the inoculations he had will protect him from it. Hope the others come thru with flying colors!

You know, all the stress with everything going on, all the worry you have, could project to Alska if he's a sensitive boy. Could be why he's been a little off the food. Just a thought, but I have had a couple animals over the years, that really weren't themselves if I was all worried and stressed. My Ripley was like that. If everything was stressful, he wouldn't eat unless I literally hand fed him. Didn't care about anything or anyone else, but if I was stressed out, he knew it and followed me constantly and refused to eat unless I fed him from my hand. He slept on my pillow with his paw in my hand every night, holding hands with me. Unbelievable cat, he was my baby, more than any other cat I have had. My male Golden Retriever was the same way. When I was sick, he laid next to me and would go for days without eating until I was better. Some animals just have that sensitivity. I know you haven't had Alska long, but you never know, he could be one of those.

Oh Debbie - such a sweet story. Ripley sounds like he was such a love bug. Wow, holding your hand...

I know that Alska sits on the floor of the kitchen and watches me trying to entice the civvies on the counter to eat and even watches while I syringe feed so you could be right that he is sensing the stress. I try to re-assure him every chance I get but our routine is different too since one of my sick civvies has taken over my couch blanket. Alska usually sits on the blanket on my lap in the evenings... I know he's missing that because he goes right upstairs to his chair. He also gets upset when they sneeze around him. You make a very good point about the stress, change in routine and difference in civvie behavior causing him to be upset. Luckily he is eating well now (too well with all the food that my civvies won't eat). He doesn't get the high carb offerings though as they remain on the counter. I have been carrying his food upstairs to his room to try to keep him away from the kitchen fray so that is also a change.

I am actually pleased with his AMPS. I am hoping the new dose brings him down more.

Keeping fingers and paws crossed for Alska.

Truly, Ripley held my hand. I'm a side sleeper and always have 1 hand up on the pillow beside my head. He would put his paw in it and I'd close my fingers around it and we'd sleep that way for hours. Craziest thing ever, but he did that for many years and slept in my bed until his last few days. Years ago, when I had a live in BF, he insisted on being between us on the pillows. BF was lucky Ripley even allowed him IN the bed.
