Happy New Year's Eve, LL! It has been an interesting year, hasn't it. That's a statement of fact, not a question.  Zener is doing ok today. His appy was a little off at PS so I gave him some cypro then woke Anne up to give him bupe. I was worried that he was starting low (compared to the last few days  ) and then dropped a bit at +1. I was having flashbacks to Wed night when he crashed and would not eat. It seems every time we stop the bupe (this is the third time) then his appetite decreases. The first time seemed to be from the dental but now I am thinking it's something else. We took him to the vet and got some blood work and pancreas test. The blood work is fine. The pancreas test result should be in today.

I am wondering if his hips are bothering him. We have some cosequin so I think we should start that with him. I know Julie gives that to punkin. Does anyone else have any experience?

We love the blue start, Zener. How about a little surf? Thinking of ailing kitties and beans, Lyresa, BJ and Michelle, Tawny and Desi (T is doing great and this is the last day of THS for Desi, yay!), Jill and DH (great to see Jill posting again), Vyktor and his mum.

I like seeing those blues!!

Just remember that bupe is a narcotic. We don't want to have to send Zener to rehab.

I gave Cosequin to my civvie, George. To be honest, I think it did an OK job. I was giving it to him when he was 18yo so it was no surprise that he was a bit stiff in the joints.

Morning! and yes it has. Quite the year for us too. :-D

Very nice start for Zener - love that blue!

I too have used Cosequin for some of my kitties - I do think it helps.

Enjoy your day!

I like seeing those blues! Keep eating Zener!

I use Dasuquin on Simon and Cleo and I think it has helped both of them.

Great day for Zener. Looks like he's flirting with green! Have a very Happy New Years Eve!!! How's Anne feeling?

I hope Zener's numbers stay steady. I gave Cosequin to our Bubba for the arthritis in his hips for at least a couple of years before he passed at 23. I don't know if it helped him, but I don't think it hurt him, either. Have a wonderful new year's eve!

Happy New Year's Eve! Zener is looking nice today, not dropping too terribly fast. I hear you on the flashbacks though, I probably would have done the same thing. :-D Keep eating Zener! I hope Anne is feeling better today, she must be so bored.

Re: 12/31 Zener AMPS 213;+1 196;+2 166;+3 144 A Trak

Nice blues Zener.

I give Morgaine cosequin and zobaline for cats. I am not sure which one is helping more but I believe she is doing better. Amazon has a good price on cosequin if you are a Prime member because you get free shipping. I don't think it can hurt.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year! I am personally glad to see this year end.

What a nice even cycle in BLUE for Zenner today! We give Tess Cosequin for bladder problems and it has really helped. If you buy 2 bottles at a time on Amazon you get free shipping and don't need to be a prime member.

Zener is feeling kind of punk and has been like this for several days. His appy is poor but is eating because of the cyproheptadine (appetite stimulant). He is grooming but hardly purring. There isn't any clear reason for his punkness. We are racking our brains to come up with some ideas.

We are switching meters tomorrow. The Alpha Trak strips are just too expensive with as much testing as we are doing. I forget which one. Anne takes care of all the ordering. We will use both for a while to see how they compare. Paws crossed.

Anne is about the same but she is being really good about no TV, computer or reading. Tillie has been in her lap today more than she has in her entire life. Tillie LOVES that green blanket with the snowflakes and Anne has had that over her legs. :-D

Sienne: No, we don't want any druggies in this household.

Lisa and Linda: Thanks for stopping by. He did have a nice cycle today.

(((((Michelle)))))

Georgia: Thanks for the input on Dasuquin (same as Cosequin?)

Jac: Anne says she feels the same, even after 2 days of doing absolutely nothing.

Randa: Thanks!

Melissa: Thanks for stopping by.

Rosalie: We did get some Cosequin from amazon. Thanks for the tip.

Ann: Thanks!

Melissa & Tarragon: Thanks! Wonderful news about the new baby. I'm glad he's "only" 9 lbs 15oz. :-D

Tracy: Welcome back! Thanks for stopping by. We got blood test results (all good) but no pancreas test. It got delayed at the lab. We'll probably get it on Monday.

Ann & Maggie: Thanks for stopping by.

Happy New Year LL!

I'm sorry Zener is still feeling a bit punky. We used cosequin for a while with our civvie, Mario. It worked well for him for a couple weeks, then it seemed to not quite agree with him. I can't quite put my finger on what it was, but he almost "regressed" after a few weeks on it. He's 16.5 and had been arthritic for a while, so maybe we started using the cosequin too late. Now he's on adequan for his arthritis, and it has virtually been a miracle for him. "Punkness" is the perfect description for how Mario was behaving in his pre-adequan days.To be honest, like Zener, Mario's appy was also pretty bad until we started the adequan, so I think his arthritis pain was a contributing factor to him not wanting to eat, so you guys may be onto something with regards to the bupe helping out with Zener's appetite. I know, though, that adequan is not for all kitties...Claudia's Rocket reacted badly to it by developing a nasty rash at the injection site, but I think in general it is tolerated well. For Mario, he once again runs, plays, chatters, asks for attention, and voluntarily eats...all behaviors that had virtually disappeared, and it seems that the arthritis was the reason behind it.

Yup, saying it has been "quite a year" is the understatement of the century.

I hope you guys are enjoying a lovely New Year's Eve!

~Amy

Oh Zener..what happened to all that blue? You need to eat big guy!!!

Hi Anne and Liz: we're worried with you that he seems so punk for no reason. We hope you can figure it out and get him to eating again soon.

More healing vines for Anne and Zener. Great job, Liz.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
