It's been a while again, but I couldn't not post and close out 2025 (good riddance) and wish a happy new year to everyone! So sorry that I didn't manage to respond to everyone's comments on my last post. Please know I read them all and just never was able to get back to it. 😟

Our 1 year FD anniversary passed on Dec 14 and our forum joining anniversary was the 16th.

Things have been better. No more leaking for almost 3 weeks (πŸ₯³), though I attribute most (if not all) of that to the daily ondansetron making him constipated. I've started giving him 1/4 tsp of Clearlax a day split across 4 meals (even 1/8 tsp at once makes him sick).

As of the 23rd, we've fully transitioned him to KOHA LID Rabbit Pate (thank you so much again to @squeem3 for the sample!!!). He loves it. A little early yet to see if it'll work for him, but so far so good I think. Technically we're not managing a novel protein yet because he's still having seafood in his Churus (though I have eliminated all chicken). I'm hoping we may not need to, because I don't think there's an alternative that will work.

For a bit we'd been seeing some pretty good numbers. Not amazing, but pretty good. The past few days have been higher due to a combination of Libre change, vet stress and not feeling well.

Yesterday we finally got to see an internal medicine specialist. She seemed knowledgeable and spent plenty of time with us. I was worried about having expensive, dry prescription food pushed on us, and about being kind of interrogated about my FD practices, etc but it seemed like she could tell I at least had some idea what I was doing and was impressed by my switching proteins, etc. We're going to be starting him on budesonide to hopefully help his symptoms (with chlorambucil as a second option if the first doesn't work). From the bit I've read around here it sounds like the budesonide doesn't wreak absolute havoc on BG despite being a steroid, so hopefully just a little bit of insulin increase will help.

Really hoping that once that kicks in maybe we can stop with the daily cycle of twice a day Mirataz/Ondansetron/Clearlax.

I hope everyone's having/had a great NYE and holidays! πŸ’–

Happy and Healthy new year wishes Brianna and sweet XanderπŸ₯³πŸ₯°πŸ©·
Good riddance to last year!
Sending all good wishes for the new year and a new start πŸ’•
It really sounds like you’re on the right track on all fronts. You’re such an amazing mama and you’re doing such a great job testing and figuring out all of the variables. Xander is so lucky you’re his mama 😻

I’m so glad to hear he’s doing better and you had a great vet visit. She really sounds smart and like she had a lot of good ideas and she heard you and respected all of your hard work and what you are doing.
Thank you for the update, I’ve been thinking about you and hoping he is feeling much betterπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒπŸ€πŸƒ
Hugs and love to both of you πŸ˜πŸ«ΆπŸ©·πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ˜»πŸΎπŸŽ‰πŸŽ‡

Happy New Year, Brianna and Xander. πŸ’•πŸ₯³

So happy to see a positive update on your special boy. Glad the vet visit went well and it sounds like you guys have a good plan in place. Wonderful to see that he’s been eating well and likes the new food πŸ˜€

Sending big hugs to you and Xander πŸ€—

Happy New Year, Staci and Ivy!! πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ˜Š

Thank you! It feels like things are finally looking up. At least I hope so. We sure are trying. πŸ₯Ί

I've been thinking of you too and am looking forward to catching up! I hope you and Ivy are well and having a really nice holiday season. πŸ’–πŸ’šβœ¨

Budesonide messes with Leroy's bgs but he's a weirdo:blackeye: Glad the Koha rabbit is working :) Does Xander like the venison?

That does seem to be his theme! Xander's is the trampoline, Leroy's is the weird. πŸ˜…

He hasn't tried it yet purely because I'm just trying to see for sure if the rabbit will work before I add any new variables. But I have both others right at the front of my food shelf to try when it seems safe! It would be nice to have the variety for him for sure!

Happy New Year, Kat & Trixie!! πŸ’–

So happy to get to give a positive update for once! I hope the trend continues upward. 🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻

Sending hugs back to you and your beautiful girl! πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—

Best wishes for the budesonide. It's worked wonders for my Luciole, and didn't spike her BG, although of course ECID. The budesonide, although powerful, was much more gentle on her body overall, and she now takes a minimal dose of it.

As well, we switched to the Koha rabbit, and that's been another positive change, and I hope it is for you too. RAWZ rabbit is really good for her too, as it doesn't have any of the binders & gums that I think were the problem in the first place.

Good wishes to you for a very happy & healthy new year!

Thank you, Lara!! I'm hoping that we'll have the same results you did with the KOHA Rabbit + Budesonide combo. 🀞🏻 As long as it doesn't make his BG go absolutely crazy, if it helps it seems worth the insulin compensation.

I'll definitely keep the RAWZ in mind too!

Happy New Year to you and Lu! πŸ’–βœ¨
