Hi all -- Looking for some advice here. Chispa's PMPS was weirdly high at 473, so I retested with my emergency backup meter and got 509. She was also antsy and didn't want to sit in my lap for testing, which is unusual though not unheard of. Her breathing looked fast to me after she got down, so I checked it out with my Cardalis app and got 34 and 38 bpm, which the app said was "very high" (normally her average is around 26). Right now she is in her bed looking relaxed. Her head is up and other than the fast breathing she doesn't look distressed. (She is definitely not purring -- I checked.)

I am 99.5% certain that this morning's shot went in. She is eating and drinking, she had peed a couple of times while I was out today, and she did a very normal poop right before I tested her. I left a teaspoon or two of her usual 13% MC in the feeder with her regular food while I was out -- not nearly enough to send her skyward.

What could this mean? Should I call the emergency vet?

Thanks so much, Bhooma. Yes, she's relaxed and lying down. I just counted again and got 34 and 32.
She was eating when I came home, and I did her shot a few minutes after. Just now she took her meds in two treats.
She's been sneezing lately -- I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Has she eaten any more? If not distressed I would see if you can count her breaths when sleeping or lying down as suggested and just watch her. That red did cone out of nowhere.

If she has a cold it could effect her BG. Max got one. Nothing to do my vet said unless he developed an infection.

Thanks, Elise and Bron. I just put out some new food for her, but she hasn't gotten up and may just not be hungry because she finished the food in her feeder less than an hour ago.

I haven't heard coughing or wheezing, but she's been sort of sneezy for a week or two. She did an actual "achoo," complete with a little wet mist, while I was testing her tonight.

The red/black number really did come out of nowhere. She's still lying down and her head is almost down, so I'll go check her breathing again and report back.

Measured again and got 28 (twice). She looks relaxed and normal, but she did five or six little sneezes in a row while I was standing there.

She also drank 250 ml of water in twelve hours today, much more than her usual 300-400 in 24 hours -- I assume because of the high BG?
