We need help/guidance administering the Lactulose to Buddy, please.

We were given syringes and they are marked at 1.5.

The first one shot out a bit too fast. The second time, the syringe got stuck because the lactulose is so sticky and shot out on his fur and my husband's hand, so we gave a bit more - this time, i was able to get it out very slowly and he was fine. I have a better feel for it now.

I have been putting the syringe on the side of him mouth. Is this the best/safest way? What do we do to avoid causing aspiration?

Maybe something in this post will help? Syringe/Assisted Feeding (Video and Tips) The video, about 3.5 minutes in shows her assist feeding food. The theory is the same for meds. And yes, side of mouth. Maybe a water chaser? Can the lactulose can be mixed with something to make it less sticky? I wouldn't put in his regular food. Cats can develop food aversions to something they are assist fed.

@Wendy&Neko - thanks! i think i got the hang of it. The good part is he likes the taste, so it's not too big of a struggle and i got the rhythm of going slower when giving it.

Still waiting.....but hopeful

(sorry, i forgot to link yesterday....i was so proud i got the subject right, i forgot to paste it in! LOL)
