Good morning!
AMPS 270 shooting 2.5F
Time to bring it on down Boomer!
Boomer ate most of his overnight foods, leaving about 1/3 of his +6. He got me up at 4:00 to stir the remaining 1/4 tsp of his food
Yesterday morning I was able to get out (although the light was terrible) and visited 4 of my regular locations. The first two spots were pretty much a complete bust; although there were some birds at the second location they weren't cooperative at all. At the third location, which is by our river, I drove through hoping to spot a Bald Eagle. Well I did, it was flying along the river when I was driving, but then it flew away from the river and I lost sight of it. At my fourth location I had more luck and also found out from another photographer that the Bald Eagle had flown overhead a few minutes before. Anyways, I saw something move in the trees shortly after I started on the path and sure enough I came across a small Redtail Hawk perched in a tree only about 10 feet off the path and it was only about 15 feet up. He allowed me several shots then he flew right in front of me and into another tree nearby. At one point he must have heard a mouse underneath the snow, he dove down to the ground and started digging at the snow. He had no success and flew back up into the tree. The other photographer and I watched this over a period of about half an hour; the hawk wasn't bothered by us at all! Attached is a photo of the Redtail flying.
