The taffy was a flop. Again. This time I under-cooked it because the thermometer I was using fell in to the mix and I didn't want a repeat incident of yesterday evening. I'm giving up on this whole candy-making thing. All I'm doing is wasting ingredients and time. cat(2)_steam

But it seems like Tip has come down a bit. She didn't seem too interested in food, but the house got pretty cold today, so I'm thinking maybe she doesn't like eating when it's hot or cold. She ate enough at both meals eventually though, so I'm not that concerned. Overall she's been playing more, the food game is helping a lot, but I'm running low on freeze-dried chicken and don't have the money to get more yet. Her fur and attitude is getting a lot better. She's fighting me less on everything and being a much better cat over all.

Christmas seems to be doing pretty well too. So I'm thinking I've finally found a dance that fits 'em both. The birds and Bruce are doing great too, felt I should add how they're doing since I don't report on my other babies much.

I'm glad she's doing so well and her attitude (and fur) are improving.

Sorry about the taffy.....that seems to me like a challenging candy to make :lol:

I'm definitely happy about it! My favorite thing is rubbing my face in their fur because cat fur can be soooo soft! Especially Christmas. Though I don't think they appreciate it. :lol: At least they get pets and rubs too.

Yeah, looking back, it probably isn't supposed to be a beginners candy to make. It looks so easy, heat up a butter, sugar, corn starch, water, and corn syrup to a certain temp, add flavor and color, stir, let sit for ~10 minutes, then stretch it until it's smooth. But it's so much harder than that because there's apparently a very fine line between syrup, taffy, and burnt sugar. So I'm resorting to making marshmallow snowmen tomorrow morning instead. :lol: So much easier since it's just sticking candy together.
