12/30 Leo AMPS 498 +4.9 356 PMPS 254 +2 176 +3.3 129 +4.5 87

I’m glad you got the SS issue fixed, I couldn’t open it last night. Leo is coming down from those blacks which is promising, is his appy better this morning as well?

Thanks. Could you see his SS this morning? I read another post from someone and it suggests this happens when looking at another kitty's SS. ??

At least he's lapping the tuna-soaked spring water. I poured some of this water on top of his wet food in hopes he might eat some of it, but it doesn't look like it.
:(

Weight today=7.8#
He's so boney. He's lost some more weight.
:( Last bloodwork showed him at 8.76#; 11/28/22=11.50#

Finally got Leo to eat some this afternoon; not a lot and it was 10%, but better than just tuna-soaked spring water. Of course, it's a bit past the 2hr stop for fasting BG purposes. I'll make it work!

That’s ok, the recommendation to not feed 2 hours prior to preshot is meant more for newer members who don’t have a good idea yet of how food influences numbers, 10% is a little on the higher side, so that may have had some influence on the preshot, but that would be more of a concern if you were shooting greens. Glad he’s finally eating more. That’s a lot of weight loss in a short period of time. :(

Agreed; 10% is definitely higher than I preferred, but he wouldn't eat anything else. I was grateful to see him eat that--not even a tsp... and it ended up two hours fasting BG.

About to test for +2....

+2=176
Is 78 points down considered fast? I hope not!
Leo offered one tsp, but he only ate half-tsp 33%, plus a fee of the Young Again Zero Mature 'treats.'

Yes, looks like some closer monitoring is needed tonight. I’d get a +3. I’ve been meaning to ask, are you really giving 33% carb? I saw it when he was getting close to 50 the other day and you had to leave but as I mentioned previously if you are constantly feeding HC in instances like this evening, as what appears to be the case, that is not what the intent of feeding early in the cycle is and you need to reevaluate. Ideally you want to be able to feed LC or perhaps go up a bit to higher LC if necessary. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are feeding.

+3.3=129

@Christie & Maverick, as you might recall, Leo went about 24 hours without eating. Many, many years ago, we lost our Himalayan from hepatic lipidosis. While I don't recall the circumstances leading up to that, I do recall not eating was involved. Leo lost 1# since 10/24, and it was even down then. He was 11.5#, 11/28/22, and is now 7.8#. I agree the incessant feeding higher carb to keep him safe was driving me crazy and hope Leo gets back on a better path without it as much.
Yes, I gave him 33% at +2, knowing it was early in the cycle and he had little food in his system.

I think it’s ok if we take a look at feeding and what changes may be helpful for you tomorrow. I don’t want you to be worried about what Leo is doing tonight. Reevaluating the carbs you feed doesn’t need to happen tonight :bighug:

I tried to get him to eat just his LC after +4.5=87, but no interest in it, or even the Pure Bites freeze-dried chicken or the Young Again Zero Mature pellets. Not sure what to do now as wake up time will be in six hours and to keep Leo safe at the same time.
