good morning everyone!

the sun is shining here, though it's only 15 degrees out...
binks is in a relaxed and groovy mood...cuz his medicinal cuddles and lovies last night seemed to be just what the doctor ordered. I must have been whining some on the couch, because he spent the entire night there with me, and didnt head over to any of his snazzy little beds. Sweet!

4 p's so far...and we're ready to add the Perils of Making Pals by letting the girls out. I'm in the leg brace (ever the silly bean)...and do have what may be an irrational fear of him getting a bad scratch from one of the girls. Maybe you folks can enlighten me a little on that subject...i'm basing it on the fact that many human diabetics have severe issues healing...is that an issue for diabetic furballs? I have broken out a powerful little squirtgun...it's filled and ready for action in case things get ugly...never have used the Water Torture for discipline before...but i'm not terribly mobile, so whatever works.

We've sent out a fervent message to any and all angels to please watch over MJ and Butthead today....

That's a good question, I don't know if diabetic furkids have difficulty healing like beans do..

I can just picture you water gun in hand following the kitties around the house.. :lol:

Nice drop for +3, Binks is in the house! No answer on healing issue, but ears seem to hel just fine. Tess has scratched herself a coupleof times too, w/ no problem.
:twisted: I don't suppose the girls would like a manicure?

too funny with the quirt gun - whatever works. my friend did that - worked for her.

Nice drop to the +3. Looks like there might be some :mrgreen: in your future. Is the leg brace leftover from your fall? You didn't have another accident did you? I hope the squirt gun works. I used to use one with the civies, but I was never fast enough. I hope you're a quicker draw. :lol:

I don't really know the answer to your question, either. I do suspect it may depend on how well regulated the FD is and how long the cat has been diabetic. There are vets who will delay dentals because of the possibility of infection when a cat isn't well regulated. (Which doesn't make sense since the gingivitis is probably one of the reasons that numbers are inflated.) My DGF was diabetic. Over the course of his adult lifetime, the effects of the DM became more evident -- impaired circulation in his hands and feet. The latter was a particular problem. He developed cardiovascular problems that were DM related, as well.

:lol: the only time i ever used a spray bottle...i felt terrible cuz it scared the peewaddin outta binks and he ran to me for protection :shock:
havent had to employ it today tho.

Ele...the leg brace is supposed to be a permanent fashion accessory until i have surgery...instructions are to wear it even while sleeping...
but i'm not a very good patient. i hate the thing...it's leather and got metal side bars/accouterment..."for smooth, natural movement"...right!

but i'm behaving now... :-D

I see my buddy is doing well in the # department. Now if he only new what possibly lay ahead in the near future. :shock: The cross fire. Seriously the squirt gun will be a good interruption if something erupts.

I'm a nervous wreak when I introduce cats. I don't want them to have a bad experience with each other because I'm afraid that it will ruin any chance that they had to get along. So I follow them around giving out treats etc. Talk about jumping through hoops. Who do you think is in charge here? :mrgreen:

Binks' spreadsheet is looking more and more like a meadow! I hope he adds a little more green tonight. :mrgreen:

We've used a jar filled with coins (we're tres rich, lol) to shake for that jolt that makes kitties forget what they're doing.

Celi...wow...you've been to our condo twice today and I haven't made it over here. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? Oh yeah...I spent too much time in the recliner by the fireplace watching it snow in Tucson :lol: :lol:

I'm so sorry your knee is worse again....or maybe it never got better but you seemed a little more mobile a while back..seems like they are waiting a long time to get that surgery done so you'll be better!!

Good luck with the water boarding of cats :lol: :lol: Doesn't work with Scottish Folds...crazy things LIKE water but the coins in the jar is a great idea idea.

Binks...I'm so sorry those naughty torti girls kilt your mouse but we're gonna get you a new one in Rusty's barn tomorrow!! I'll help altho I don't really want to catch it and get myself dirty but TOBEY...he's a different story!! He loves all things that move!!

OK I am sweet & good & loving, BUT I did use squirt guns to train Moonie & Copper when we first brought them in from outside!!-
They have never scratched one piece of furniture, injured each other, nor wanted to go outside again--They were 6 mths old & quite wild, but a little water goes a long way..It really worked for us, but I have never used them again, never had to. Just a squirt startles them, so drenching is not necessary, They Get the Picture quickly!!--Hope it works with the Girls!!
Hey I am Not an Animal!! :shock: --Water really does work.

Healing-Moonie did get a big injury on her tummy a while back. It took several weeks for the wound to heal..
So...draw what conclusion you wish--I think some fd cats take longer than others, but No problem now.

Hi Celi, A loud noise or a water pistol might very well do the trick. Gotta keep that boy safe from those ferocious torties!
Too bad that you have to wear one of those braces. One of the women here wears one for hiking, but doesn't need it all the time.
I hope that your knee will get better soon. Edward has had 2 knee surgeries (too many marathons!), but is OK now.

:lol: :lol: you guys...tena...i think i could solve some world conflicts with that unit!

and ella...now i have the funniest mental pictures of square-dancing and line-dancing kitties!!

btw...i discovered something i think is really cool...The girls have a regular LB (binks got the Breeze model)...and yesterday i got some Arm & Hammer Naturals for them...this stuff is the best clumping litter i've used!!!

the other good thing (though i'm sure most of you are smarter than i if you have a laptop)...the repair folks wanted $200 to clean the moderate soda spill off my keyboard...so i went online...and fixed it myself! only one sticky key now...for folks whose butts are stuck to the couch with velcro like mine lately...the internet is a lifesaver!
