12/3 Kitty update - deworming went okay

Today I missed having a condo!

The vet suggested we give Kitty a dewormer/parasite treatment, to see whether that might be the cause of his symptoms (throwing up every 3-5 days, eating more, losing weight). He said if we need a specialist in the end, they'd want to see that we'd tried this.

I was worried about using Profender topical -- scared it would make him sick. But I applied it about nine hours ago, and although he's slept a LOT today (more than usual :lol: ) he seems fine. I probably didn't give him the full "big kitty" dose; I got some on his fur and wiped it off, maybe some of the medicine too, and I left a couple of drops in the tube. (Did I mention I was worried?) But he got most of it. We'll see if it helps.

At least he didn't look miserable all day. That makes me happy.

Glad to hear Kitty's update and he's tolerating the topical treatment. I hope this helps. How long does he need to be on this treatment?

 

I'll slightly edit that "tolerating." He was down, not feeling well, for two days. Lethargic, maybe he was nauseated. But he seems back to himself now. I washed the residue off his neck, and he perked up.

I think we're doing the treatment only once. The next thing I want to try for him would be Pepcid, or see if I can diagnose his allergies.

But we'll see. Maybe this will help.

I'm waiting to see whether the deworming helps stop the barfing. I figured that if I try two things at the same time, I won't know which worked.

So far... no barf since last week. Fingers and paws crossed! :smile:
