She's back to usual this morning, so I'm considering last night's not so usual numbers as a blip for now.

In some ways she seems to be doing better - she seems happier (which might be because I'm actually home more than during the madness of the last big show), she hangs out in the living room more, she started using her water fountain again, things like that.
But in other ways, I have concerns I need to chat with the vet about - sometimes when she lays down, her front half goes down, her butt goes up, and then slowly settles (I'm thinking her arthritis is getting worse - I upped her transdermal gabapentin from 0.75 to 0.1 and it seems to help some). She also never has her tail up anymore. Which could also be an arthritis thing? I just noticed it a few days ago and it made me sad to not see it.
But overall she seems good - pooping and peeing on a mostly regular basis (pooping is slightly more irregular, but again, we think that's her arthritis). She still wants pets, she isn't hiding, she still yells at us to follow her to another room so she can get a pet or to before she settles down wherever she might want to nap (you know, because how else would we know that she wasn't sitting right in front of us).
I also am mostly decided that I'm going to stay home for Christmas. Partly because I don't know that I can trust the bf to give shots on time (and Kit is not a good traveler, at all). But also partly because it's a 12 hour drive - if I split up the drive that makes it 4 days of drive time, in addition to however long I actually stay. And that seems like a long time to be away.
Anywho - I hope everyone has a good Sunday. Safe surfing to all the kitties!

Hang in there Alicia and Kit.
Her numbers look good for today.
I don't have any advice on her tail or the way she's sitting down. I hope you can discuss with the vet or another member and get some answers.
We're all here for you during your journey.
Have a peaceful Sunday.

All of those things do sound like they could be arthritis-related. Luckily there are lots of different things that can help if that's the case.

Kit is adorable. It's funny that she notifies you of her whereabouts so you can't miss giving her attention -- very considerate of her.

Have a happy Sunday, you two! :bighug::cat::bighug:

Hi Alicia,
well Kit sure got down to business today! Good girl.
Your decision to stay home for the holidays sounds like a wise one, given all the possibilities. It’s a bummer though to miss out on lots of things.
I’m also struggling with a life of being home all the time, too. But no good options!
Let us know what the vet says about your concerns about Kit’s tail and lying down situation. I hope they have some ideas and it’s not a problem.
Safe surfing tonight. Hope you have a nice evening :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Alicia,
I'm happy to hear that Kit cat seems happier! That's the most important thing in all of what we do.
Arthritis can definitely be an issue - I used to give subQ glucosamine daily years ago (pre-Mikan time) to our previous kitty. That was a benign treatment and seemed to helped.
I totally understand about your decision to stay home for Christmas.
I'm basically a home buddy but Mikan situation really has restricted me from going anywhere for any prolonged period of time. I feel bad about not visiting my family but Mikan is my baby.
I feel she is my priority.

Hope you are having a relaxing evening. Your much deserved winter break is almost there! :bighug:
