I gave him a snack at +2 but he wasn't as interested in it and took one bite of it before turning away. He was much more interested in the snack at +4, most likely because of the drop. I think I need to cut back his main meal a bit so that he will be more interested in the +2 snack.

Looks like he is headed up and you didn't feed any higher carbs, so you needn't stay up till +6.
