Nice start to the day! Bit of a bounce overnight but right back to greens.

I had somehow missed the news that Levemir is being discontinued in the US until last night. This morning I ordered more from Mark's Marine, but didn't notice until after I submitted the order that I ordered the PenFill option, not the FlexPen (which doesn't seem to be available from them). I assume I'll be able to use the PenFill vials the same way I've been using the FlexPen (drawing up a dose using a BD syringe)?

You’re welcome :). It’s quite a quandary unfortunately, particularly for us long-haulers. It’s one thing to decide to switch insulins because you’ve tried one and it’s not giving you the desired results, but it’s a horse of a different colour to be forced to find something else. I know I won’t be going back to Lantus, and I wonder if we’ll be seeing a busier Tresiba sub-forum in the near or not so distant future.

Looks like Oberon stopped doing the Hokey Pokey and put on his Speedos and jumped right in for a paddle around the lagoon, go Oberon!:D

I used the penfills too. Actually, so have. you. They are pen refills and are what is inside the pen. Just comes with less plastic.

You might want to ask Marks how much longer they think they'll have Levemir available. I've heard the pens will be the first to be discontinued, with vials available until end of next year. I imagine there'll be some stocking up happening.

I had thought about stocking up as well, but the risk is at some point we’ll all be getting Lev with the same expiration date based on the last batch produced…probably not an issue for CGs with kitties on a higher dose, but for me, it would likely expire before I can use it.

Someone from Mark's called just a bit ago just to make sure I knew I'd ordered something different from my previous order. (Nice that they're so on the ball!) I explained and said I was stocking up, and she hadn't heard that Lev was being discontinued in the US. Maybe someone further up the chain there is in the loop, though. In any case, I've got 2 packs of 5 vials on the way (once they start shipping in early Jan; they've paused shipping to avoid holiday issues). We're going through a pen in just over a month, so this plus the four pens we already have (which expire 3/25) gets us something like a year's worth. By then the Lev situation may have changed, and who knows what this dude will be doing a year from now!
