He got stuck in the downstairs bathroom last night, AGAIN. He blends in so well with the wood floor, that he's hard to see, even if you have good vision, which I don't. I will note that a friend came over yesterday to help me excavate the first floor; I am NOT noted for neat. We got a lot of trash and recycling out. Many of the cats ran for cover while this was occuring.

Of course he had peed in the bathroom; he's unregulated and water goes through him fast. With no water dish overnight, it only happened once.

I put down a can of Purina Pro Plan turkey and giblets, and to keep the other cats from bugging him, shut him in the bathroom again. Checked in 20 minutes ... and he'd pooped. I looked at in while cleaning it up and saw bright red streaks of blood. The 2 candidates that come to mind are irritable bowel syndrome and GI cancer. He just can't get a break, poor little guy.

APMS ~ 105; gave 1 unit as I won't be home to check that he's doing OK.
I'll go home for an early lunch, and if he's come up, give him the remainder of his dose.

Went home to check on him ... and he'd dropped to 85 from 105 this morning and only 1 unit of insulin with access to straight Purina Pro Plan. This means he probably wasn't eating. I gave him a pinch of dry and opened a fresh can of Purina Pro Plan for him and he started chowing down. I gave him one dose of the ondansetron (he had one last night, too). Sometimes he's a competetive eater, but a couple of the other cats kept pushing him out, so I knew he wasn't feeling well.

Called vet. They had an opening at 4:20. Dropped him off with a can of the pro plan. Made sure to mention the green vomit from Friday, in addition to finding some mucousy blood in stool this morning (Hope you aren'r eating!) Waiting to hear from them after apt.

Starting to read up on Inflammatory Bowel Disease and GI cancers.

BJ

Please keep us posted about Spitzer. I am sorry to hear he got locked in the bathroom again.

Recap:
AMPS~ 105, 1 unit of insulin, straight Purina Pro Plan to eat (6% cal from carb)
+3 ~ 85
Glucose dropping; couldn't stay home to monitor, so took to vet.

Vet examined him around 4:10 and said he's the most alert and active she's ever seen him and he can come home. No fever. No obvious signs of difficulty.

Is a puzzlement.
