First I want to thank Venita for coming once again to my aid. I am as usual forever in her debt.

I also want to thank FDMB for allowing me to post a dog issue on their cat site: Jessi has Pythiosis and to also thank all of you who have offered suggestions and support in that post & via PMs.

What's interesting is that since Jessi's surgery & learning about this horrible monster, Pythium Insidiosum, a week ago I put every living creature here (2 dogs, 2 horses, a whole bunch of cats, and me) on a daily dietary supplement of Food Grade Diatomacous Earth (DE). Various websites make various claims about the "miracles of DE", which I usually take with a grain of salt. I bought a big $12/bag of DE on a hunch at the local Tractor Supply when DBF's cousin who works there mentioned that in one of their stores the employees did an experiment where 10 them decided to add this to their daily diet; w/in days 7 of the 10 were passing parasites they didn't even know they had!

The point: one of the DE websites mentioned that it helps with diabetes. Tawny's #s today may be a fluke, or may be a result of DE being added to her food (1 tsp) once a day. She has never (that I can remember or find in my log) had a green in the morning and a green in the evening. Her SS is not up to date but here is the last few days' of #s:

12.15.12: amps 169 / 6.25u

pmps 69 BCS 6u (have to sleep sometime)

Now if I could just get those #s into her SS! (working on it...)

It will be interesting to watch now to see if this is just a normal progression of doing what we do here & to see if the feeding of the DE ultimately appears to have possibly made a difference. I will work harder on getting her #s into her SS so we can watch more clearly.

The DE does not appear to have made much difference with Tinkerbell so far however.

Not very scientific, I know, but kind of interesting I thought anyway.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. We'll be watching. Just skip and bunch of lines on the ss, and add the data you have, and put the computer next to the testing table, so it's available there at you elbow to record every test you do

It's good to see a Tawny update. Nice greens, girl cat_pet_icon

I hope the DE works well for Jessi and you find the medication you need for her.
