12/25 Shadow - ate some

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I'm ancy and worried tonight nailbite_smile and trying to focus on all the logical reasons why Shadow didn't eat much today.
She ate her fancy feast appetizer ( half of one) and her freeze dried treats but ignored her feeder (the real food) completely today.

Teenager has been faithfully feeding her twice a day ( even getting up early in the a.m.)
However this morning her mother accompanied her and went in my house.
Logically, Shadow could be upset ( the mom talks kind of loud) that there was a new stranger in the house.

So we texted the teenager back to add another shrimp to the feeder ( 3 total now).
I'm hoping that now that it's the pm cycle on her feeder that she will feel safer. Caretakers generally don't come in the middle of the night. I'm counting on Shadow knowing that.
I'll ask in the morning too if the teenager's mom went in my bedroom. If she did that would Definitely Freak Shadow.
Shadow does not like visitors especially when we are away.

It's going to be a long night for me waiting for tomorrow mornings report.
Paws crossed that she eats at least half of the real food tonite. nailbite_smile

We leave on Thursday - super early in the morning and will drive 13-14 hours straight home. No hotel stay.


Prayers for everyone , especially Kitten and Moonie .

Cats hate change so it likely could be that. Maybe she will eat when she can sneak out and not have weird people watching her!

Sometimes cats will eat a lot more at night when they are left by themselves. I've looked after a friends cat who is like that when she is away. The cat just picks at her day food, but makes up for it at night. When her bean is home, she eats the regular amount during the day. Paws crossed Shadow will be a night time feeder.

Shadow ate some in the night. about 3/4 of one tray so I can breathe a little better today.
Having the teenager go get her some more fancyfeast appetizers when the store re-opens. She gave the whole container instead of half like I had planned for.
It was supposed to be a treat on the side of her food, but as long as she's taking in calories.

I really was nervous that she would go on a food strike and we still have 3 days left before we get home.
I keep telling myself it was just the mom coming in the house. 2 people talk.... one teenager wouldn't be talking to herself while getting the food. :lol:
unless it was me, I've always talked to myself. :lol: cat lady + crazy :lol:

i am glad that Shadow are over night. I suspect that Shadow disses you, is nervous when a stranger is in the house. Good to read that she will eat when the house is hers.

Merry Christmas! So glad Shadow ate this morning. You poor thing being away and worried, I was freaking out last night being 10 minutes away because Scrabble was low. Hope you can enjoy the holiday. I am sure Shadow will be fine. Probably just stressed. Take care.
 
Glad Shadow did some eating. Our civvie Logan is invisible if anyone new in the house, hides behind the furnace. ;-)

Oh good! I'm glad to see Shadow is eating something. Sending her calm vines, for while you're gone. She misses her bean. Merry Christmas! (Try not to worry too much)

Glad she ate some--OMG I know how you feel!! Went to see DA few yrs ago & Moonie went on a mini hunger strike with DH there!!--Believe me, she will be fine...She just misses you. Just keep doing what you are doing, cats Will eat when they are really hungry! Sending EAT EAT EAT Vines to Dear Shadow!

I'm glad Shadow ate some during the night. I hope she continues to do so. Try not to worry so much and have a Merry Christmas.
 
Hi Rhiannon, Merry Christmas and so glad Shadow ate and you can feel more relaxed and enjoy the rest of the holidays. I remember last time I traveled, I checked on Mags every day, too. Enjoy the rest of the holiday.
 
Rusty never eats as much when we go out. Cats like to "save" their food for "emergencies". I'm sure she will be fine. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Rhiannon,

Hi Rhiannon. I'm glad to hear that Shadow finally ate something last night. It's probably because she misses you coupled along with the extra person in the house.

I hope you are having a great Christmas. I know exactly what it's like to wish you were home with Shadow.
I'm glad he ate well overnight. I bet he will tonight, too.

Got tonite's report.
Shadow ate most of one of her timed feeder trays and ignored the second one. I wondered if maybe the time needed to be moved up so the teen is going to make one open 4 hours later and the second one 6 hours later. (she goes to my house every 12 hours)
Maybe a little more time with that second tray will help.
But she is eating at least half of her fuds..... so that's good enough.... As long as it continues... I'm not as worried.
Just my normal amount of OCD. :lol: :roll:

2 more days and I'll be home.

Merry be-lated Christmas Rhiannon. Hopefully Shadow is eating better. She's probably just missing you and will be fine when you get home. What a blessing to not have to worry about shooting as well. I'm so grateful for the falls and appreciate FDMB so very much for all their help in getting us there.

Tomorrow!
We leave at 6am and will drive 13-14 hours pulling a trailer.
Shadow will be so happy to have us home.... and our droolers will so happy to get there too.
They have had a stressful time. The puppy doesn't travel so well..... car sickness.
Maybe tomorrow she won't have any.


I just can't wait to get back to Shadow....
