Trix seems to be liking her 2.00 - at least for now! DH and I have to go to his sister's for dinner tonight...hopefully we will get a nice, safe surf then, too!

Staycation is HERE - :RAHCAT dancing_cat :RAHCAT dancing_cat :RAHCAT !!!! DH and I - eternal do-it-yourselfers - are working on renovating part of our basement. It was finished by a previous owner...in the 70s. Lovely wood paneling and office-style carpeting. But, it has a fireplace - it has the potential to be a nice, cozy room, and will probably become my full-time jewelry studio once we close the bead store (which won't be any time soon, but I'm trying to plan for the future.). Hopefully we can make a good dent in the space while we're both home. DH is very skilled in things like this, even though it's not his "trade". But, we added on to the house a few years ago and he did all the electrical, plumbing, tiling, and a fair amount of sheetrock and framing. The inspectors were quite impressed with how neat and precise his work was! I'll be helping with carrying, spackling, flooring, and painting (the one thing DH doesn't do, but my steady hand from years of making jewelry comes in handy here!)

This is also a great distraction for me, as the memories of losing Mr Kitty on Dec 25, 2002 and Mario on Dec 26, 2012 are in the forefront of my mind. It's a tough time of year, so it will be good to keep our hands and minds busy.

And, of course, we still have to finish getting ready for Christmas, and visit families over the next few days. Busy, busy, busy - but I will definitely be checking in with everyone.

Congrats to Amy on staycation. I so loved those when I was working,. Good luck on your basement, and kudos to your DH. Mine is very much like that too: remodeled our entire basement, right down to the tile work, Sheetrock, all of it too. It sounds like a great project,and nice that you can work on it together, Funny - I always got he painting part too. ;-)

Enjoy your dinner tonight. I am sure it will be a good time. Trixie - be good so mama can go. 'K?

Wow Trixie, you're working that jooce! Really pretty in green :mrgreen: Good luck on the renos! I'm sorry it's a sad time of year as you remember your beloved GA babies. I hope you have an awesome staycation, and Christmas Eve :-D

Sounds like a good distraction with the renos Amy. (Someday I have got to post a pic of our 'finished in the 70's' basement...it's good for a laugh :lol: )
I'm so sorry about your losses over the holidays. I had no idea, but had seen hints to it mentioned. I hope though that your staycation has some relaxing involved!!

Not super-duper loving this PMPS PMPS....but, it DOES help DH and I a lot - we have to leave for his sister's shortly and although we won't be gone all that long, we won't have to worry about her. She's so thoughtful! I do wonder, of course, if I spoke too soon about this being a good dose...she usually only bounces when doses aren't quite right. Once again, time will tell.

All the presents are wrapped, most of the last minute details are taken care of, and we made some headway in the basement....one for day of craziness, then we can settle in till the New Year!

Hi Amy, enjoy your staycation, and good luck with the renovating. Nice greens and you're right, at least you won't need to worry too much about Trixie with the PMPS when you have dinner with family. She wants you to have a nice time.

Trixie had such lovely numbers this morning!! And then comes the PMPS....no one's perfect, ya know!!

Sounds like you're going to be very busy over the next few days!! But that's my kind of time off, too!! Got to keep busy!! I can't image how hard it must be to have to deal with memories of loss when you're supposed to be celebrating. I feel for you. I hope you and DH have a GREAT Christmas!!!! Good luck with the reno.
 
Well, she kept it nice and flat - and safe - for us. Safe is good...and now it's time to get back to those greens! We still have to go to my family's Christmas celebration tomorrow, but it is literally right around the corner, so definitely no worries there, Trix, if you care to head back to the lagoon!!
