12/24 Todd AMPS 338, PMPS 351 And Merry Christmas Eve!

Todd seemed better yesterday as the day went on. Today (I've only been up for a short time) he seems yucky again. I think, but don't know, that he may need a slight increase in his Sub-Q fluids. The last 24 hours, he's been drinking a lot more water, and when he got his 150ml of fluids yesterday, they were absorbed within just a couple of hours. So I'm thinking maybe I should increase to 175ml. And I wonder if I should break it up just a bit as well. maybe some this morning, like 100ml and this evening, do the 75ml. What do you folks think?

I gave him somewhere between 1.60u and 1.70u this morning. It's hard to read on these needles.

I know nothing about subQ fluids. If you want an answer from someone with a clue :lol:, maybe try putting it in your subject header.

Happy Holidays to you both and hope Todd feels better soon no advice on the sub Q I am sure someone who uses them a lot can advise you even with being a vet tech its not something I ever have had much experience with since my area was labwork hope you get advice soon if not maybe call your vet and see what they say when you can

I was out of the house from 3pm until 10:30pm pacific time (got back just in time for Todd's PM check and insulin) I had him set up in my office while I was out, with food, water and litter. I can tell he ate while I was gone, so that is good. His BG is 351 tonight. I did not do a spot check during the day, because I wanted to give his ears one extra day off. heh I'll start again tomorrow with the afternoon spot check. He seems ok tonight.

happy to hear you'll be resuming mid-cycle spot checks tomorrow. those AM & PM mid-cycle spot checks will give you a better idea of not only how low this dose is taking todd, but it will also tell us if a dose adjustment is needed.

squids... many caregivers split the amount of fluids they're giving and administer twice a day rather than all at once.
