Blackie ate some food on his own last night, but only ate a couple of licks when I checked him at +7 last night. This morning I gave him 2.5mg pepcid at +11.25 and at +11.75 he vomited cloudy/clear liquid. I didn't see the pepcid, so I don't think it came up. Then he pooped, but he must have had some klingons, cuz he was busy washing himself after. He wouldn't eat with his shot, so I syringe fed 2 tsp of baby food. Then I gave him fluids at +.5 and he purred right through those and then enjoyed his turkey treats. Then he ate about 1 Tb of Wellness Chicken & Herring on his own.

He seems a little better, but not a lot better. I'm just waiting for the vet offices to open to see if I can get him in somewhere. DH also wondered if he got into something, but I don't know what that would be. We don't have anything new in the house, no Christmas decorations, plants, etc. Please send prayers and healing vines for Blackie.

hope you can get Blackie into see a vet today....
couple of things....
i looked at the lab report and seems that Oct was the last time done...that said...are you giving AH with all the meals? the PHOS may be creeping up hence the extra acid in his system and therefore the nausea and lack of appetite....you mentioned in the CRF site he is on Calcitriol....but you didn't mention the AH...i was just wondering....depending on what the vet says and the new labwork....and if PHOS is higher you may need to start the AH or increase it....
if you are giving pepcid, do make sure it's every 12 hrs...not sooner....
do ask on the Cerenia or Ondansetron....
sending healing vines for Blackie....and since he is throwing up....if i were you i would give a lil more fluids today....you don't want him to get dehydrated...

sorry to hear Blackie isn't feeling well still. Of course you have my prayers and sending lots of healing vines Blackie's way. Please keep us updated and I do hope your vet gets to see him

Sending prayers and feel better vines to Blackie. I hope you get a vet appointment today, and the vet is wise and can give him something to make him feel more like hisself real soon.

After calling several vet offices, we ended up going to our old vet. The only reason we changed vets was that they wouldn't support us switching to Lantus, but other than that I do think they are thorough.

So the good news is that Blackie's kidney values were very good. Creatnine, BUN and Phosphorus were down from the last bloodwork (see results in signature). Dr. K said that he could have a kidney infection that is making him feel bad. He thought the WBC was elevated even though it is in the normal range. He said he would expect it to be about 6 in an older kitty like Blackie, not 10.3 and that this can indicate infection. So he sent me home with Cerenia for 3 days and Zenequin (abs) for 14 days. Blackie didn't have enough urine for a cysto and Dr. K said culures often don't show kidney infection. He suggested that we repeat bloodwork in 2 weeks. He said if he doesn't improve, we may want to get the pancreatitis test and/or ultrasound.

I want to thank you for the Cerenia suggestion, because I wouldn't have known to ask for it and I don't think they would have suggested it if I didn't ask. Blackie seemed hungry when we got home, but he wouldn't eat. I syringed about 2 tsps of baby food and I'll test him at +6. His glucose at the vet's was 333!

Thank you for the healing and eating vines and snowflakes. I hope the Cerenia kicks in soon and he starts eating normally again.

I think Blackie would love a visit from the KTSS kitty group. He hated being at the vet and was very angry with us all. And they had to shave his neck to get the blood.

Hi Ele - I am so sorry that Blackie still isn't feeling the best. I hope the meds work for him, and soon. Mannie and I send many many healing vines. Be Better Blackie!

KTSS - emergency call for Blackie - we gots to get him some chicken soup, like pronto! And a spa treatment - he had to go to the vetty place, and well ya know - he says he smells real bad. Blackie - we are on our way!! ~~ Mannie

Ele...so glad to hear you got in and also that your vet is a good one because he is right about the kidney infection not always showing bacteria in the C&S. Hope Blackie feels better SOON!!!

Hey Blackie, I. Hope you feel much better real soon. KTSS is on the way. I've been given the job of stirring the soup so that it will be just th e right temperature. Snowflakes are plentiful at Camp Stu tonight!

I gave 2.5 mg pepcid at +11 and Blackie at almost 1 Tb of food on his own at shot time. I gave 3 units and I hope it wasn't too much. He wouldn't eat any more, so I syrnge fed another 2 tsp of Wellness. He looks like he feels better, but still not eating normally. Thank you for the continued healing vines. I am so grateful for all of you.

Ele, I'm glad you got Blackie in to vet. I was hoping he'd be better today. So now I'm gonna be optimistic about tomorrow.

Hi Ele! Happy Holidays!
I noticed your post last night and have been checking in frequently with my phone. I had so much I wanted to say last night, but my phone (only internet connection until today) is maddening to type anything at length. I knew there would be some good people to help guide and support you and Blackie.

Glad to hear you got to the vet and at least the kidneys are not worse. True about the kidney infections and diagnosing them. I hope the cerenia helps. It always helped Latte, though sometimes the injections helped best. It doesnt taste very good. So if you have not given it yet, make sure to mask it well. They are expensive little pills to have spit out and disinigrate OUTSIDE of the cat's mouth. :?

I will keep my fingers crossed, and duchess is keeping her extra toes crossed for Blackie.
I hope you are able to find time to enjoy the holidays, how ever you may celebrate.

Hi, Carolyn! I didn't even know you could give Cerenia orally. The vet gave me 3 syringes with extra needles, so Blackie got his first injection about +5 today. He's eating some, but not a lot. He does seem to feel better -he's purring more as I sit next to him. I'm hopeful, but watchful now. :YMSIGH:

Carolyn, I don't know if you've watched the weather here, but its been so warm that they've closed the ice climibing in Ouray. We have daffodils coming up here! Not that I wish for cold weather, but it would be more normal.

Thank you everyone for the KTSS, healing and eating vines. I really hope Blackie will feel/eat better soon.
