Wishing all our friends a Merry Christmas.


My dd and sil will be coming tomorrow for half the day so things are improving with them... albeit , ever so slowly.

Shadow has only been eating purina one.... chicken and gravy ( 13%) altho' she's getting tired of it too now.
Her numbers stay the same. We are just taking one day at a time.

my dgm is beginning hospice care ( still here at home with me) but visiting nurses will start providing some help. She shouldn't make it much longer. She is barely eating even half enough calories to sustain.
This is definitely her last Christmas.

I've read several of your condo's lately but have been so busy I haven't had much time to reply and just wanted to let you know that I'm really sorry that Shadow is declining. I pray that you can receive a Christmas miracle and your sweet furbaby will bounce back and you have many more years together.

If this is your first experience with hospice care, I think you'll be really relieved. In my experience with hospice, they're absolutely some of the best people I've ever had the honor of dealing with, and although the reason they're in your life to begin with isn't a pleasant one, they really can quickly become part of the family and help in many ways other than just the day to day caretaking of your DGM.

It's always doubly bad when we have to face the loss of a loved one anytime near the holidays. Lean on your hospice workers and let them help you through it.

Merry Christmas. I hope you can enjoy the holiday. I'm sorry about your DGM. I hope Shadow keeps eating for you and you have lots more time with her.
 
well I started the wishes on the 24th because that's usually when we start ....

we always did tree presents on Christmas eve and then santa comes, and we do stockings on Christmas morning.....
had to adjust for this year to accommodate dd and sil.

they came early , we did it all , ate Christmas dinner....
had a good time....
and they left for his folks house at 1:30.

I'm bored now.

Sounds like things are a bit rough at the moment which I'm very sorry to hear. It does sound like you had a nice Christmas though :) Sending big hugs, and scritches for Shadow. Wish I could send her some of Vyktor's Christmas present from NanaCat to tempt her tastebuds - dried crocodile! (also missing the surprised smiley)
 
Holidays can be so bittersweet, especially when we find ourselves facing loss. Sending hugs. And vines (if this new board will let us do that!)

Chris is absolutely right. Hospice is amazing. Angels among us. Lean on them. They will lift you up.

Light for Shadow. Lots of light.

(We did the dual Christmas, too, when I was a kid. Santa came while we were at Christmas Eve services and then the Elves followed up overnight with our stockings!)

Rhiannon, I hope you and Shadow had a nice quiet evening together. I'm so sorry to hear that she isn't doing well.

Vines too for your DGM. It is so hard to let go, even when we know it is time. You tow are so close, let others take care of the daily things and focus on your time with her.
