Not eating much this morning, not sure why. He looks ok though. Could just be grumpy from the ear poke. His ears are so, SO red and bruised up. I am using Neosporin on them, but I don't think it's helping much. And he is not bleeding very well from his ears right now. Any suggestions for making his ears feel better?

hi, sarah...
others should have some good advice on the ears...it might catch their attention if you type QUESTION in your subject line.

hoping todd comes down nicely for you...and happy holidays!

Re: 12/23 Todd AMPS 399

Sorry Todd's ears are sore. The Neosporin pain relief always did the trick for us, but there is also an all natural Halo ointment -- Derma Dream. Here's what it looks like: http://www.mothernature.com/p/-Derm...uct&zmam=1000941&zmas=18&zmac=110&zmap=146930. (Not necessarily the best price, just an example of the product.)

Are you using the warm-sock method before sticking? That always helped us get more blood -- and just massaging the ear before sticks. Many people alternate ears, but Kitty would never let us touch the left ear.

Ears do "learn" to bleed with time.

Good luck!

Hi, you have got some great advice - I wanted to also mention that when I test Baby, I get a dry washcloth & I put it behind the ear to give it some padding, I do a quick prick & then apply pressure with the washcloth to the ear for about 7 seconds (while the meter is counting down) this prevents bruising. I also use the ACCU-CHEK Softclix Lancets & here we are a year later.. Baby's ears show no evidence of being poked (amazingly) Good Luck ;-)

Thank you for the advice everyone! Very helpful!

getting close to the time to check Todd's BG again.

He still seems rather yucky today. I just don't know why. Not eating as much as yesterday, though he ate a LOT yesterday, so it could just be he doesn't feel super hungry today. At least, not yet..

I just gave him his Sub-Q and he fought me the whole time. Normally he'll just sit there and deal with it, but he was kind of freaking out a bit. I've been doing this for a few months, so I think I'm pretty good at it. But he fought me so much, the needle came out (UGH), so I put a new one on and got the rest of the fluids in him, and then he did it again. At least I got it all in. He's mostly just meatloafing around the house today. It could be that he doesn't feel good today, it could be he's just upset by all the poking and having to take his pills. I gave him less than a teaspoon of tuna juice to make up for it. he was happy about that. I'll probably give him some Pepcid in a few minutes.

I just hope I am doing everything right. I feel so, so bad. :/

Hmm. Sounds like you are worried. Maybe the subQ will perk him up. If not, would a call to the vet worth considering, with the holiday coming up?

Let us know how he does. That tuna juice can have restorative powers too! ;-)

Re: 12/23 Todd AMPS 399 (with Question)

I am worried. I spend most of my day worried. lol He'll probably be ok. I think my biggest problem is I am home pretty much all day and all night (my husband says I need to get out more), so I have a lot of time to dwell on Todd's health, worry, look things up and worry more. Man, I am gonna be a paranoid mom when we have kids! LOL I need to stop by the vet office in a bit anyway, so I'll see what they say. I spoke with the vet two days ago and they said to bring him in Monday or Tuesday for a recheck. Our vet wants to avoid needlessly upsetting him by bringing him into the vet early. I totally understand. Though he seems to enjoy all the attention he gets while he is there ( they LOVE him!!) They are open until noon tomorrow, closed Sat, but open on Sunday.

Sending Todd feel better and eat better vines.

Your normal... or what we consider normal haha_smiley
I don't have a husband or kids, I do work - but spend the rest of the time obsessed with Baby & Sadi ohmygod_smile
I cannot imagine having kids.. I would be diagnosing them with something new everyday & freaking out about every little thing :YMSIGH:

Re: 12/23 Todd AMPS 399 (with Question)

I actually am one of LL's world-class worriers, so I understand! I also tend to watch my kitty a little too closely @-) .

This all sounds good. The vet is aware and caring, you have a visit scheduled, they'll be available Sunday... I think you can probably relax for one, two, maybe even three seconds. Oh heck, it's a holiday, make it four seconds!

PMPS 329 I didn't do a spot check half way through the day. I wanted to give his poor ears an afternoon off. He did eat today, has been chatty and seems better this evening, though rather angry at his pm BG check. hehe

I'll give the 1.65u again tonight and see how he does.

Also, I got him a heat pad for his bed, which I think he'll enjoy once it's all heated up. :) It's for pet beds, so it won't get too hot.
