Seems like a happy boy. Was howling at the moon last night and playing with his toys at 2am before coming to bed and cuddling with DH. Its odd how he wants to cuddle with me in front of the tv - he's a real mommys boy - but at night its all about DH. A good thing though since Cookie likes to cuddle with mama bean at night.

hi wendy!

i wanted to make sure you saw this response that I posted in Ozy's condo earlier today. I'd emailed Dr. Kathy Lunn to ask her about Ozy's 88 IGF-1 test on whether or not that was borderline acro. I think you said Tiggy had a 115, if i remember correctly, but you doubted the acro diagnosis. I thought you'd be interested in her comments.

No - I do not consider that borderline - it is perfectly normal. Cats with acromegaly are generally much higher. I don't really consider them truly positive until they are above 150. Rechecking in a few months makes sense to me, but in the meantime I would not worry about it too much.

if you aren't familiar with her, she's probably the most informed veterinarian on acromegalic cats in the US. She was in on developing the SRT treatment at Colorado State University and moved to North Carolina State Univ College of Vet Med in Raleigh, NC to do the same thing there.

hehe sweet report on Tiggy's cuddling habits. we love routines. evening tv is mom, bedtime is dad. life is good for little Tiggy! :-D

That's great!!! Tiggy was 104 and both my vet and the lab said not acromegaly.

But the normal range is up to 92 and so the people here said therefore he does have it - and you guys see way more cases than my vet.. This was his first case.

But most cats are so much higher, so I was never sure. I haven't seen a cat yet as low as Tiggy that I could compare him too.. Even in here.

That's great news though, thanks for letting me know!!

even though i think FDMB is the most knowledgeable site about FD, i do think Dr. Lunn is The Expert on acromegaly.

i'd trust her opinion. :-D

Great news to clear that up.

I've always believed the lab about Tiggy and they really should have some idea.

Now that we have *official* conformation that (as of last June) Tiggy didn't meet the standards for acro, perhaps you might correct the disclaimer in your sig? If you must mention something, he is somewhat "high dose" or you could put IGF-1=104. But (fortunately!!!) he actually was never "DX acromegaly" anywhere but FB?

A retest at some point is certainly a good idea along with the IAA test.

So if Tiggy doesn't have acromegaly, I guess its IAA. Which makes sense I guess. Although he is such a young cat compared to most on here, and he wasn't even esting that much dry prior to diagnosis., half and half core wellness and dry.

Could still have a fairly inactive tumor i suppose.

if these numbers were a bounce from the 30 3 nights ago, it should resolve by tonight. if Tiggy were mine and you don't see better numbers tonight, i'd call it a failed reduction and go back to 5.5u.

you do a great job of managing Tiggy's BGs - don't doubt yourself. these kitties like to challenge us! :-D

The reduction isn't looking so hot right now. :?

If you go back up, maybe when he earns the next reduction you can take him down to 5.25?

Or you could fatten directly to 5.25, but that might be less effective with these current numbers.
