Good morning,

Yesterday's condo

12/22 AMPS=167 (0.5u); +2=243; +6.25=211; +8=218
12/22 PMPS=252 (0.75u); +2=169; +4=164; +6=173

12/23 AMPS=155 (0.75u); +2=162; +10.5=133
12/23 PMPS=182 (0.75u); +2=148; +4=149

Lucy only ate less than 1/4 of her normal breakfast portion, and quit - after I shot.
She's not eating any more.
She doesn't seem to be in pain.
Her appetite was heading this way since yesterday, so I thought it may be stomach acid due to CKD, so I gave her Pepcid before bed.
It didn't work.
She is now upset that I keep pushing food under her nose, and hiding.
I'm extremely frustrated.

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155 // Not Eating.

Mariko, I'm so sorry to hear Lucy isn't eating and not feeling well
Sending tons of appy and feel better vines to you and her :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155 // Not Eating.

Hi Mariko, sending appy vines to Lucy. I keep a few fool-proof appy enticements in my back pocket for Zeke. FD salmon that I crush and sprinkle on top of his food when he's turning up his nose. Tuna juice is sometimes effective as well. I see that you've been having some trouble with her appy. Hopefully, it will rev up soon or you'll figure out what she needs to feel better. Sending healing vines your way as well.

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155 // Not Eating.

Oh, little Lucy, please please please feel better and eat your fuds!!! Sending hugs and prayers, Mariko :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: .

(((Mariko))) Please Miss Lucy, eat some of your fuds~they are good for you.

Mega appy/feel better vines for Lucy. Thinking of you Mariko

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155 // Not Eating.

(((Mariko))), I know how upsetting this is for you. I hope Lucy's appy improves.
Sending eating vines her way ~ lots of delicious eating vines ♥

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155;+2=162 // Ate some more.

Thank you, Pam, Laura, Amy, Jane and Josie.

She ate some more.
She didn't want any of Wellness Turkey or Wellness Turkey&Salmon, but ate some FancyFeast Turkey&Giblets.
She ate so cautiously like she was worried it might make her unwell.
So I think she somehow managed to associate eating with feeling unwell.
Poor baby.
Indoor cats don't have much else to be excited about, and she doesn't like food.
This makes me so sad.

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155;+2=162 // Ate some more.

I'm sorry Lucy's appy isn't the best. I hope she'll continue to eat for you and feel better. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155;+2=162 // Ate some more.

Mariko,
Do you think it's a flare up of pancreatitis? If so, maybe some Ondansetron and Cyproheptadine would help.

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155;+2=162 // Ate some more.

I think, at the least, some ondansetron might be helpful.

Sending eating vines!!!!

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155;+2=162 // Ate some more.

Tons of feeling better and good appy vines for Lucy. We know how hard that is when she won't eat. Hugs to you, Mariko.

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155;+2=162;+10.5=133 // Ate some more.

Thank you very much for your vines and prayers.

Her dinner is not for another hour and half, so I don't know if she'll eat better tonight.
She doesn't seem to be in pain.
I can't see that she's nauseated... at least I don't think she's badly nauseated.
But it's possible she feels a little sick and uncomfortable... I don't know.
I gently brushed her with her favorite brush, and she purred.

But if she doesn't eat her dinner, I'll try Cerenia...
I don't have ondansetron, but I have Cerenia.
I know these are different meds, ondansetron=chemo, cerenia=motion sickness.
Would ondansetron (Zofran?) be better? If so, I'll ask the vet for some next time, but for today, I have only cerenia.
:!: Zofran vs. Cerenia: Is there any reason or condition that one would be better than the other? Or doesn't matter as long as it works?

I'm going to go pick up some different cat foods and some tuna sashimi (use as pill pockets) later today.
I don't want to run out when the stores are closed over the holiday.....

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155;+2=162;+10.5=133 // Zofran vs Cereni

I think some cats do better with one med vs. the other. It's like with people -- each med may be better or worse depending on the person even though they basically do the same thing. Both Zofran and Cerenia help with nausea. I suspect that Zofran may be more expensive.

I think this is a good question for your vet although I would be attentive to how some vets like certain drugs over others. The other issue that is always a consideration is if Lucy is on other meds, could there be problematic interactions between the meds. Interactions will dictate which anti-nausea med might be a better choice.

Re: 12/23 Lucy AMPS=155;+2=162;+10.5=133 // Zofran vs Cereni

Oh Mariko, I'm sorry that poor Lucy isn't eating well. Sending some more appy vines to her, and hugs to you :YMHUG: I hope that the cerenia helps.

Re: 12/23 Lucy PMPS=182

Sienne - Thank you. When I asked for some anti-nausea meds, the vet said she liked Cerenia better but I didn't ask why.
Next time I see her, I'll ask her and also I'll ask about interactions between meds.
Since Lucy seems to be needing anti-nausea meds more often than before, I'd like the one that's more suited for regular use.

Thank you again everyone for your vines.
Everyone's so kind here.

I am happy to report that Lucy ate the 1st dinner better than this morning.
And I haven't given her any cerenia yet.
She still ate cautiously - every few bites, I could tell she was thinking whether she wanted it or not.
And every time she paused to think whether she wanted to lick the food off my finger, I held my breath.
It's funny, I don't know why I hold my breath but I do - as if even breathing may snap her out of auto-licking mode.
I went straight to Wellness T&S tonight, I didn't even try to offer Wellness T since it seems to turn her off.
Paws crossed she'll keep eating her 2nd and 3rd.....

Re: 12/23 Lucy PMPS=182;+2=148

Well it took a loooong time, but she eventually ate normal amount of dinner.......
Phew......
