Still very worried about Sam's high numbers. Gave him 1.25 last night but I was really bummed when I realized that Safeway misunderstood what I was asking for and thought I just wanted 1/2 cc syringes, not the syringes with 1/2 unit markings. Doing my best to guess at 1.25 but pretty hard w/ these syringes. Either way, I can tell it's more than 1.0 & less than 1.5. Will be ordering new syringes today since I can't seem to find any locally. Hope they come fast! Thanks for all of your support!!

Again, thanks for your suggestions and support. I am borrowing a different meter until Sam's Accu-chek strips come so I don't have to keep using my husbands. It's a Truetrack from Walgreen's. Hope it's accurate, heard mixed reviews.

Thanks Marjorie for the reminder about syringes. Thanks also to Julie...I found the Diabetes Wholesale site and they are much cheaper...also signed up for the rebate site. Any little bit helps!

Thank you Julie for the meter suggestion. I was a bit worried about it so that confirmed. I have three more rounds on this cycle so will just use the original meter. Any problems if I change over when I start the next cycle? Hopefully I will have his accu-chek strips by then so can start using that meter (my hubby's old one). And no worries, I completely understand "clear as mud"!  Btw, when I respond like this is it better just to edit, or to post a reply? Don't want this thing to get too long, but want people to see what I write if that makes sense.

Hi guys .. bum deal on sam siam's numbers .. it's not fun seeing them this high .. Eventually the right dose will settle in and he'll be down off that unmentionable floor! I hope your syringes also get to you quickly, that must be a pain measuring .. have a great day guys!

Donna:

Be sure the syringes you are using are U100, 3/10cc. I know you know that 1/2-unit markings and 1/2cc syringes are two different things but just be sure you have U100, 3/10 cc syringes. And yes, WalMart and Walgreens both
carry 1/2u marking syringes in stock. They aren't the best but they will tide you over until you get your Monojects. Just watch the bubbles..both of those brands like to get bubbles.

After he's been on this dose six cycles (if he doesn't come down), please be sure and ask for dosing suggestions so we can decide if he needs a .25u or .5u increase.

Hang in there.....FD is a marathon, not a sprint. :-D :-D

As hard as it may be, it's going to take patience until you start seeing some movement in Sam's numbers. He'll get there.

FWIW, the Walgreen's near me in Chicago don't stock the half unit syringes. It's probably a matter of demographics. I order my syringes on-line.

Re: 12/22 Sam Siam amps 426

hi donna! just stopping to check on you and sam siam! it takes a little while to get to a dose where you start seeing action - then it makes you stand up and go  .

:-D

looking at his ss i just wanted to mention that usually we're encouraged to pick a meter and stay with it unless you think there's something off with it. meters are legally allowed to have a 20% variance, so at 400 the legally allowed variance could be 320 to 480. where we are most concerned is low numbers, and the variance is a lot less with low numbers. a 40 could go from 32 to 48, far less of a difference.

good grief. i get done writing that and am thinking "did that make any sense at all?" clear as mud, i suppose. my only point is you probably don't want to switch back and forth on meters during a cycle unless you have a reason. you might get apples and oranges.
