Happy Caturday-Before-Xmas!

All through the house, the only creatures stirring are: Ripley, eating her b'fast, and the civie cat, trying to eat Ripley's b'fast. I tried putting civie in a different room w/door closed, but she meowed until my DH woke up rather grumpily. So now I'm back to helping Ripley defend her food (because, unfortunately, Ripley isn't very good at defending, well, anything. She's my peacekeeperkitty :YMPEACE: ).

MMMMMM! I just enjoyed a cup of Mannie's pepperminty coffee concoction! Deeelish!

Time to start xmas baking! Enjoy your day, all!
~Josie

ETA:

I've noticed that when Ripley's BG drops quickly, there are noticeable changes in behaviors; I was just wondering if: 1 )I should be concerned, and 2)is there a term for this? (I've been thinking of it as "crashing.").

Typical post-dose behavior: She finishes her meal, drinks some water, then curls up on her rocking chair and sleeps.

Sometimes (such as now): same as above, then instead of sleeping, she walks around the house, seems to be looking for someplace comfy; she'll lie down for a few mins, get up, find a different spot, and so on. And rather than curling up in a cat-ball, she lies in a 1/2 moon shape. She doesn't sleep; eyes are open, gazing, sometimes with her head hanging over the edge of couch cushion.

It's probably her system responding to the insulin? Do any other sugarcats do this?

Thank you ~Josie

Re: 12/22 Ripley AMPS 154

What would happen if you put Ripley in the other room with the door closed? Is she a talker too? Mmmm peppermint coffee..now I want to skip down the street to the Starbucks and get a real one! Have fun baking today!!

Re: 12/22 Ripley AMPS 154

Unfortunately, she would either meow, or more likely, get too stressed-out to eat. But maybe if I try it more often, she would get used to it. We live in a teensy house, so the DH may get earplugs in his stocking...

Hi Josie.

I just saw the other condo you started about behavior. We want one condo per kitty per day, so that we keep everything together in one place. Otherwise questions and answers and topics and conversations can get confusing.
I would repost that question in this condo and then delete the new condo you started.
You can always add the ? icon to the Subject line of this condo and change the Subject Line in the first post of this condo to something like 12/22 Ripley AMPS 154, +2 83, +3 75 Behavior Queston
or 12/22 Ripley AMPS 154, +2 83, +3 75 Queston Please.

I hope you have a good day of baking.

My kitty just gets up and goes to his bowl a little quicker than normal, and maybe eats a little quicker when he feels his BGs going lower.

Thanks.

Now, somewhere on that other post, you should be able to delete it, as long as no one has replied to it yet.

Go ahead and copy the question from that condo to this condo, and then try to delete the other one.

Her numbers look real good so far, today.

Okay, I see what you did. Another tip: most of us, once we've read some of a condo, and go back to it, we click on the First unread post at the top right, and that takes directly to the most recent posts that we have not yet read. We figure we already read the first post earlier and generally don't go back and reread it again. KWIM?

What you can do to help out on long condos is add the ? icon to the first post of your daily condo, and then add the ? icon to the Subject Line of the actual post (if it's further down) where the question is asked.

Don't worry about it.

Let's see I bet she's 66 at +4.. I'm just guessing

Sometimes, when Gabby's numbers are dropping I'll notice a subtle change in behavior. Her usual behavior is sleeping. At times, when her numbers drop, she'll come to where ever I happen to be and stare at me or jump up an sit on top of me then leave. The staring, I think, is her way of trying to will me to go put food in her bowl.

I would see what Ripley would do if, when she was restless, she would eat if you put food in her bowl.

Re: 12/22 Ripley AMPS 154, , +3 75, +4 65, question...

Thanks for all the tips! Learning new things each day...

You're good, Dyana: +4=65!

And, Sienne, I'll try the little bit of extra food. When cats stare, I think they are trying to use their telepathic powers @-)
