Max has been having a terrible time with constipation lately. I’ve been alternating Miralax with lactulose. Also adding water to food, giving baby food pumpkin, and squash. It usually does result in a hard poop that looks like it must have been difficult to pass. I’m wondering if he’s holding it in? Sometimes he goes and lays down in front of the litter box. That’s not like him. Anyway, that may be affecting his numbers as well as bouncing. I wonder if I should stop his Ondansetron and Cerenia for a bit. I usually give one or the other daily because if I don’t he gets nauseated/vomits. Poor little guy. Otherwise he eats well and seems fine.

Poor buddy! Have you tried psyllium? I mix 1/4tsp psyllium with 2tsp of pumpkin twice a day for Biggie. He needs something for bulking (psyllium) and something that softens the stool too (pumpkin). That combo does the trick and he goes almost daily now. Every cat needs something different, but it’s something to consider.
ETA all that gets mixed with about 2tsp of water and food. I also top it with fortiflora sprinkles to get him to eat it!

Thanks so much. I’ve tried psyllium and pumpkin too but probably not as much as you give. I’ve got the capsules and I just sprinkle a little on his food. He finally went and it was softer this time. I will just have to keep working with him to figure out what his daily regimen should be. High maintenance Max, but ya gotta love him!
