Newest sort of holiday themed Simon's Cat video to waste a few minutes at TBP :-D

I'm actually off from TBP today. Leroy and Emma are going to Dr. B today for their annual check up. It's a good thing too because Leroy's nasalpharngyl polyp thing got irritated last night (first time since the DX last month) and he coughed up a storm  And all Leroy was doing at the time was poking at a toy ohmygod_smile

Hi guys ..

I hope you guys have a good vetty check up! That photo is to cute .. and I'm sure there are many kitties on here who can tell that same story

Angela, TBP - the bad place (AKA, work!) :-D

I had a birthday cake order for next week but it got bumped up to this weekend so what I thought were going to be relaxing days before Christmas have now turned into a bake a thon!

Check up went well :-D We had to wait a bit in the exam room for Dr. B. Leroy poked around as usual. He even got on the rolling stool and poked half his body into a (fortunately empty) pull out drawer ohmygod_smile At least he didn't eat the dog treats that were on the table  Emma mostly huddled in a corner looking around. Dr. B was happy to see Leroy and Emma  Leroy was examined first since he was already on the table. Leroy was extra squirmy today for some reason  Leroy got poked and prodded and various internal organs squeezed. Leroy's healthy, just a bit of gingivitis on the right side of the mouth despite daily brushing. Then it was Emma's turn. Emma was a wet mop and let Dr. B examine her. Leroy sat on the bench and watched with huge eyes and a blank stare  Dr. B cracked up when he saw Leroy's face  Both cats got their PureVax rabies and Emma also got a 3 year FVRCP. And Leroy got his anal glands expressed again. Dr. B said the glands weren't blocked, just producing a lot of (extra) stinky secretion.

What kind of cake are you making? Every weekend in December my mom makes tons of almond cookies to give to co-workers and relatives. Her cookies aren't for anyone on a diet - lard is one of the ingredients

I made Nutella peanut butter cookies last night to give to Dr. B today. The cookies were easy to make, though I think I used a little too much Nutella and vanilla extract.

almond cookies? did you say almond cookies? are they soft or crisp? the soft ones are about my favorites, and unfortunately now my youngest daughter has become allergic to almonds. even the extract, so i'm feeling a bit of a martyr about not being able to make my czechloslovakian (geez i sure don't know how to spell that) kolache cookies that have almond extract in them. so very sad.

great report on the vet visit! i can imagine leroy watching! good girl emma for taking it. hurts less if you just relax. ;-)

now i have to go watch the simon's cat video! that picture of the cat in the tree is hysterical!

The ones my Mom makes are soft. Mom's co-workers pretty much demand these cookies every year because they are so good, if extrememly fattening. The relatives like them, too. Mom's sister tried making them once but hers come out rather tasteless. And burnt because her oven rack was on the bottom and she had no idea that it could be moved up higher ohmygod_smile

hahaha some people aren't meant to cook!

i wonder if that's the same recipe that i have from my grandma. it called for lard and i use butter instead. equally as fatty but less of a gross factor for me! :-D

ohmygosh i have to not go look at those simon's cats videos. i love them too much and i always have to look at several. there are only 19 and i'm sure i've seen them all, but they are so funny i always get sucked in.

here's the sticky tape one:

hahah too funny on those videos .. why is that simon reminds me so much of mocha??

I'm making just a small birthday cake for my friends daughters .. twin girls turning 7 .. They always get to pick whatever "theme" they want .. and this year it was decided between them, a fish theme! But it needs to come with a waterfall, and grass, and fish .. ay yi yi ..

devon i had a very brief stint making cakes back when my kids were little. i'm a fan of washing toys and placing them on top of the cake to get those special effects! the cakes look adorable and it's a lot less work.

the end of my cake-baking career came with 2 cakes. one of them was baked in a mold - i think it was a barbie doll. anyway, you baked it upside down (head down, ball gown up) and i tested it, thought it was done, and set it upright (pan on top) on a cake rack to cool. came back in 10 minutes to take it out of the pan and there was a puddle of batter under the rack.

second cake was the final straw. it was only a couple of days later. i had it all done perfectly and was carrying it out of the kitchen to deliver it. somehow, i have no idea how, just clumsiness, but somehow i caught the edge of the cardboard base on the door frame. it was like a slow motion accident. the cardboard started to buckle and the cake started to fold in half. i was still holding the whole thing, but it was like i couldn't stop the train. it didn't hit the floor and i never let go of it, but it was pretty ugly. i carried it back to the counter and set about repairing it, but it was late to the birthday party and i was a nervous wreck.

after that i only did cakes for my family. far less critical of an audience if something went wrong! :-D

 Cathy, that is tooo funny!

Julie, I have had my shares of cake disasters, trust me! I only started cake decorating EVER about 6 years ago .. Let me say this, I learned the very hard way that a full cake mix does NOT go into a single 8in round pan ohmygod_smile I couldn't believe the mess it made in my oven

I did a few wedding cakes but eventually stopped taking those orders. The drive alone with a three or four tiered cake in our car was to much for me .. It seemed like every small bump in the road was the worlds largest speedbump .. Now I just do holiday cakes, birthday cakes and special occasions .. But trust me, they still get stressful!

Almond cookies? Recipes? Almond extract in anything makes it better. I always put in frosting as well as vanilla. Bummer on your daughter becoming allergic.

A fish cake sounds cute  Maybe you can use candy Swedish fish for decoration and use cake frosting tubes to make a waterfall and grass.

Civies are zonked out right now

Leroy actually sleeping? :o :o :o That's a first  Guess the excitement from the vet visit wore them both out  I've heard that vaccinations can make a cat tired afterwards, too. I'm just hoping that they won't decide to bcatrun_gif bcatrun_gif bcatrun_gif tonight when they're recharged nailbite_smile @-)

I was actually kicking myself for not picking up some sweedish fish for this cake .. ah oh well, live and learn!

Hope you get to sleep soundly tonight!
