Simon continues to enjoy hanging out in the yellows and pinks over the last few days. I am going to probably give him a dosecrease tonight since I will be around over the weekend to monitor. I'm sure he can sense my stress with Cleo and it is causing his bg to go higher.

Cleo is not doing that well and barely even licks any food on her own. I have been syringe feeding her for about 1 1/2 weeks and nothing I do gets her to eat...cerenia, ondansetron, pepcid, mirtzapine, and every type of food imaginable. The only thing that she still will eat is purebites freeze dried chicken. I also give her fluids every night due to her CKD but last night, she got really upset and kind of attacked me and bit my hand. Now I know she doesn't feel well since she really has never done that before. She is usually pretty calm during fluid times. Looking at her, you would not know that anything is wrong except for losing weight. She is alert and still enjoys snuggling with her mamabean at night. She just had an ultrasound 4 months ago, but vet suggests doing another one to see if anything has changed. Her last one indicated an enlarged spleen but no cancer was noted on biopsy. She did have slightly irregular shaped kidneys so the vet wants to really look at those. DH is dropping her off the morning and I will pick her up after work.

Please send your healing vines and prayers...my sweet Cleo really needs them.

Morning Georgia, sending lots of healing vines and prayers for sweet Cleo and hoping the u/s will give you some answers on Cleo. She's so sweet I'm sure the biting of the hand was just to tell you she wasn't feeling well.
Good luck with Simon's dosecrease if you decide. You know what happens with a dose threat! Sometimes they come down on their own. :-D Hugs.

Re: 12/21 Simon AMPS 241 U/S for Cleo today

So sorry to hear about Cleo.. have you tried her with regular cooked chicken or with her favourite (previously) canned food with freeze dried chicken crumbled on top?
Good luck with Simons doscrease.

Just got back from vet. Not great news for Cleo. Her spleen is 3 times the size it was 4 months ago and is taking up almost all of her body. No wonder she can't eat...she feels full all the time and is very uncomfortable. Vet says that the best option is to just take the whole thing out. Definitely is cancer but seems to be contained in the spleen. Prednisone will probably not help. I can't not do anything because it is just going to get worse pretty fast. The vet can do surgery on Monday and she will be home that night. I have to go to my in-laws on Christmas Day so that may be a huge problem. Time is pretty important but I can wait a week and just keep syringe feeding her although she has lost 1/3 of a pound in 10 days. Does anyone have any advice? The other problem is that I don't know about the cost yet. I will find out tomorrow. I just don't have alot of money so I'm really worried that it is going to be way over my budget. I hate to talk about money when it means saving my cat's life but it is unfortunately, reality

Any help and advice is welcome. Vet did give her some bupe for the pain.

I googled it and it seems they hospitalize some cats for a few days so you might not have her back by Christmas day anyway. If you do then chances are she will just need some pain meds and want to sleep all day anyway. Are you just out for the day?

Tiggys cancer removal surgery cost $1200 which included bloodwork, cytology and post op meds. I imagine it will be in that ballpark or more but see what your vet says.

(((((Georgia))))) I'm sorry about Cleo's spleen but at least you have a diagnosis. It's a tough decision, no matter which way you go.

Saying Big Prayers for your Furbaby!!Oh I know how you feel!! Moonie is just too old to have surgery & has several ailments, & they would'nt
suggest surgery as an option..But if you can save Cleo, then follow your heart & make sure you can have her with you when you want..Love you am saying many Prayers tonite! Hugs & Love from us!

Wendy, thanks for your post and yes, I will be out for just the day on Christmas. We are going to DH's home but if Cleo really needs me, I think they will understand if I don't come. As long as they see DH they will be happy.

Liz, it is good that at least we have a diagnosis. I was afraid that there wouldn't be anything conclusive and I wouldn't know why Cleo just stopped eating.

Amy, thank you so much for your prayers.

Sienne, I'm glad you mentioned that it is not that complicated of a procedure. Cleo's vet said the same thing and that cats do not need their spleen at all. It is nice to hear confirmation from you.

Roni, thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. You have been going through so much lately and it means so much to me that you are thinking of us. Big hugs to your sweet Moonie.

I forgot to mention that DH said he could sell his violin if we needed alot of money to pay for Cleo's surgery. I can't believe I found such a sweet guy. He loves his violin and plays it all the time so to give it up would be a huge sacrifice. Don't worry, I would never have him sell it. We will find another way. There is always a garage sale!
