Yesterday.

Today Ruby is starting high and only took a few bites of her food before walking away. Sigh. Will try to entice her with something different in a few minutes but I already gave her the shot. Hoping going back to .5 units will encourage her to spend a little more time in the greens. This morning's AMPS is an indication that she needs it.

Healing thoughts for all of the sick kitties and hugs to you beans who love them so. Have a lovely Sunday, everyone! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hope Ruby comes down today :bighug: I empathize with the food fussiness - all 3 cats are now liking different things on different days and I have no idea what they actually like anymore  Feels like we are running a cat food buffet here.

Have a good day Katherine :)

+7 = 119. Ruby is reacting pretty strongly to the dose increase and steadily dropping.

I have also switched her back to her 8% carb food. Her numbers started to climb after the dose reduction to .25 and switch to 2-3% carb pouched paté food. After reading this discussion on Low Carb vs Lower Carb, decided to experiment and see if Ruby's numbers stay lower on slightly higher carb food. I was looking back on my feeding notes and Ruby's run down the dosing ladder coincided with the introduction of 8% LC Weruva Cats in the Kitchen cans to slow down her early cycle drops. It's sort of counterintuitive, but perhaps there is something about the quality of the ingredients in the higher carb canned versus the less expensive 2-3% pouched patés that might make a difference in her glucose levels?

The post you linked I believe is from an old version of this board. It's mentioned here. The last post in that link explains how the higher low carb food can aid in helping slow the drop basically. Good luck with any food change!

Yeah, it's actually the conversation in the old version of the board that I found relevant and interesting, as they talk about how focusing on the lowest carb or zero carb foods might not be what nature intended for cats, and that slightly higher but still below 10% carb foods might mimic a cats eating habits in the wild more closely. They also discuss the quality of proteins in certain kinds of commercial foods over others and how readily that protein can be converted to glucose for a cat to use as energy. ECID, of course, so I'm curious to see how Ruby reacts. I do think she is doing better off of Fancy Feast pates, the holy grail of FD cat foods, while it seems to work wonders for so many other cats.
