12/2 Tiger Amps hi, Cosequin problems

Hello everyone. Hope everyone is doing well.

Tiger is still up and down with his numbers but we will be increasing later this week. I have been more worried about his lack of activity and sleepiness more than his numbers lately. I was to the point I thought we would loose him sooner than later. We started him on Cosequin about a month ago when he started coming out of the box wet about half the time. The vet had done tests and all were good. She thought it might be arthritis and that Cosequin might help.
I started with a low dose for a few weeks. And then upped it a couple weeks ago. All this time he grew more lethargic to the point one day he hadn’t gone to the box for 12 hours. I picked him up and took him and put him in the box. He did his pee and poop and went right back to sleep. I racked my brain and the only thing different was we had added Cosequin.

I discontinued the Cosequin 5 days ago and everyday he has gotten better. Visiting his box 3-4 times a day, visiting “Mr sunshine” in the window, begging for food etc. I read everything about the side effects and only 1 place said anything about these side effects. So it’s something to keep in mind before giving it. I know lots of folks use it with no problem but we could not.

just putting this out there for anyone who might be thinking about trying it, so you can watch for unlisted side effects.

Have a good night everyone!

Oh no, Deb. I’m so sorry he hasn’t been feeling well. I didn’t realize he was having so much difficulty.
I’m so glad you made the connection and he’s feeling better.
Please give Tiger kisses from me and sending you all lots of good wishes. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Good luck with the increase. Tiger will need to pee less if he gets into lower numbers.

I tried Cosequin with Neko and another cat. No side effects, but it didn't really help their arthritis either.. Glad you figured out what was impacting Tiger.

I wanted to try Cosequin with Shooter but the vet said he's past that even making a dent so we opted for the Solensia injections. Thursday he will get his 10th injection and it has definitely helped.

Ditto Elise and Wendy on an increase. Getting his numbers down into blues would help a LOT.
