Weeeellll after a multi day taper off of cerenia, Lando is eating the topper snack off of his food. I guess cerenia is back in play
Side note his weight is the same and energy is still great ( until he eats then he plummets) but i am worried hes not getting enough nutrition because his calories are coming from purebites!

I’m sorry. When I saw the subject I figured as much. Pancreatitis is so frustrating. You are handling him well though. :bighug:
Thanks Elise, today i told myself that this is the new normal… so… lowered expectations right haha ;)
Keepin my buddy feeling as good as he can feel

I am wondering if it's not the food itself he's turned off to. Forgive me because I haven't been watching him closely the last few days - but have you tried other foods?

I bought several totally different varieties of food for Mr kitty and he was eating those no problem (topper included!). But, I'm not made of money, so I just waited him out for a little over a day to get back to eating his usual food mixed in with some of the different food. But, and this is a big "but", I knew he was feeling better and just being a little difficult (fever gone, BG back to normal, back out and about and social, bugging me for food, then turning up his nose when it wasn't the can he wanted).

Edit: disclaimer, cats can develop hepatic lipidosis if go too long without eating

I definitely think its worth another go round with the food wheel. He eats maybe 1/4 of sheba at his am/pm meals. But frankly, i am so scared at this point that he wont eat, that i am almost scared to put the wrong thing in front of him. I tried ff about a month ago with no luck, tried friskies a few weeks ago, but havent tried weruva again. Any other sure fire foods that cats like?

also… it is highly possible that i am just plain overfeeding him! Hes 18.8 lbs and not loosing even when hes not eating. I need to think this out

Hes going to make you switch to raw feeding lol tiki cat?

I assume you've calculated calories he needs vs what he eats?

I would be SO DOWN with raw feeding! Im game for anything.
Frankly, no, with the amount of purebites i “ coax” him with, i dont have accurate calorie projections. I will start a true measuring plan this weekend, so that im not operating on foggy guessing

Have you seen this post?

I did it for a little while with Mr Kitty. He went nuts for it, but I think I then created an aversion with all his supplements/meds I tried to add

Seems like raw is the best, but as a vegetarian I'm having a lot of problems dealing with and feeding Raw to my lovely Ti-Mousse also.

So I'm trying right now PureBites which is complete and dehydrated raw food; it looks like kibbles and I rehydrate it with Bone broth for cats made from human grade ingredients. He likes it a lot together with my Pepe who's diabetes and CKD! For sure there is a lot of choices out there but what looks like kibbles doesn't seem as bad for me... Instinct Raw - Primal and for sure many others!

If you go raw, eggshell calcium instead of bone makes it lower phosphorus and better for their kidneys if you have the choice.
