Sadi just got sick & when she puked there was a red tint along with grass. I can only assume this was blood because she has not had anything red to eat. Any ideas on what could be going on? Her appetite & bowel movements are normal.

No direct experience. I did see a reply to another post by Jess, the vet tech:

A few specks of bright red blood sometimes appear in vomit or feces because of the force with which they are "expelled"; dark partially digested blood indicates a more significant bleed.

Hope she is okay.

Thanks, Sue. I am not entirely sure this was blood, which sounds ridiculous.. it was not bright red or even real red.. just an orangish red color.. naturally I am now nervous... nailbite_smile will keep an eye her

Most of the time when my cats have thrown up hairballs or grass it has been a kind of light pinkish-orange. Not really blood just the color.

The pinkish tint can also be from food - anything from dye in kibble to red fish etc.

All I can say is when Yittle threw up blood, we knew with absolute certainty thats what we were looking at. Ditto for one of our other cats back many years ago. Yittle was sick, but he recovered. The other cat years ago it turned out that she'd just thrown up so much that week with hairballs that she'd ruptured a tiny blood vessel somewhere... the quantity thrown up was minute and of no danger to her. Its not THAT uncommon for that to happen.

I really appreciate everyone's input. I suspect you are all right...if it were blood, there would be no doubt. Anyway.. it has been 24 hours & no more pukus. Eating, litterbox & activity level is 100% normal
