Never thought I would be happy to see AMPS 386, but after the 500s, you betcha!

Overnight, preceding the 2-hr fast before AMPS, Leo ate close to all the food I left in the autofeeder, so 1.5 oz. He looked much better.

During breakfast, Leo went to the tuna-soaked spring water first, and then the pate, though he didn't eat all of it. He usually goes back to after s little break. He even munched a little on the fresh spinach leaves.

So it's a huge improvement over the last 1.5-2 days! Thank you, @Marje and Gracie! As far as the immediate urgency I communicated in the email to the vet, can testing wait another day?

Do you mean the rabies vaccination? You said you emailed her but didn’t say why.

That’s definitely a better start to the day but you should still keep testing ketones. Let’s see how he does today before we decide on dose. I’d suggest getting a +2 to see if he’s coming down more and how much but if he’s up, you can spread the tests out and maybe get a mid cycle. If he’s flat or down just a little bit, a +4 is ok. If he’s down below 200, you might want to grab a +3 and see if he slows a bit.

Email sent to vet requesting a need for a wellness check, including labwork. I was anticipating what she told me over the phone about needing the rabies / next time we're in. She did want another lab to follow up on the 10/23/23 labs, but I never went knowing their office wouldn't allow Leo until the rabies vax. I do have a Labs tab on the SS.
I certainly don't want him to have this /, even if it's the other, "safer" /. (I can't remember what it's called.) No way.

+2 = 336, which is down by 50. He actually came over to me near the +2 time. He knows the routine, especially if he needs a boost from dropping too low--which he wasn't this time. After being so high, it probably feels like a pretty good drop. I like seeing a steady change and not the sharp BG changes.

As far as the ketone check this morning, Leo snuck off to the combined litter box. There were two wet spots in the overnight separate litter box, but DH put in too much litter for me to use the urine and dip the ketone strip. I was so tired when I finally got to bed last night, I didn't oversee the amount in the temporary box. The only way to get the ketone checked, I'll need to keep Leo in the little bathroom, like yesterday.

I can tell he is acting his usual self so far today.

All good. I don’t think the ketone test is effective if you stick it in pee that is in the litter box. It has to be just the urine.

Right. Yesterday's was a good test because there was just urine.

The vet's office called to see how Leo is doing today. After the update, she advised the vet will look at the SS and go from there. I'm sure labwork is in order. Then I'll see if there is an insistence or not with the rabies /.

Testing for +4 soon. Leo has eaten more and lapping tuna-soaked spring water. :cat:
