Yesterday's Condo

Late Condo Queen checking in! This has been The. Day. From. Hell. :o :o :o :o :o

I was running late this morning because I had several boxes of candy I need to prepare to ship to OH. Cinco scared me with that +3, but when I checked him right before I left, I felt much better about going. He's such a good boy. However, I am NOT liking these pink PMPS numbers. What's up with that? Apparently the age of the insulin was not the issue. I suspect that, when we return from OH, a dosecrease might be in the cards. Don't want to do it now, though. Much easier for Dawn to measure a 1.0, and he's in safe, healthy numbers for the most part. Plus she won't have to worry about his dropping on her.

So, I was going to be late for Minka's chemo appointment. Got the boxes, cat and other candy I needed to deliver into the car and headed out. Ten minutes from home I realized I forgot to swing by the PO to drop off the candy I needed to mail! I called UCD and told them I would be late. They said it was fine. Went back and dropped off the boxes. Got to UCD about 45 minutes late for appointment. God bless them, they didn't care! I left them with a couple of trays of candy. ;-)

Off to Sacramento. Dropped candy off with my hairstylist. As I was waiting at a stoplight near her salon, my car started to make a weird noise and smoke/steam began pouring out from under the hood! There were no warning lights lit on my dash, and the temp was a little high but not pegged. I shut the car off and a guy from another car came over and told me to turn the heater on to bleed some of the heat from the engine compartment. It started when the light changed, so I got through the intersection and pulling into a parking lot, smoking all the way. The same guy came and asked if I was okay and offered me water, but I really didn't know if I needed it, so I called my DH. Luckily, he was working in Sac today. He got there about 45 minutes later and said he thought I'd blown my water pump. Called AAA and had the car towed to the dealer. DH took care of one of my errands while I was waiting for the tow, but candy didn't get delivered to my regular vet as I had planned.

DH picked me up at the dealer and we went to UCD to retrieve poor Minka, who had been ready to go for several hours. Luckily her oncologist, Dr. B., was still there. Here's the one shining light in my day: Dr. B said that Minka's kidney felt smaller than last week, so she had run blood and urine tests to see if it was wishful thinking. Minka's kidney values are back in the normal range - at the high end, but normal!!! :-D :-D :-D She was very excited about this. She said after the session next week they'll give her a week off, then do an ultrasound to see how the kidney looks. She said it is a very good sign that the numbers are so much better, the kidney has shrunk and she is still acting like nothing is wrong. She said we could start doing the fluids every other day instead of every day. The inappetance was a bit of a concern, but she wants me to keep her on the Ondansetron and Mirtz and see if we can keep her eating. She had not lost any weight since last week. :-D They will then evaluate and decide if they should continue with the next round of chemo. Minka did not eat this morning and did not want to eat when we got home, so I gave her some Ondansetron and two hours later she ate a fair amount of boiled chicken.

Sasha and Harvey were low maintenance today. :-D

I posted the cards I made for the people at UCD and at my regular vet on my Facebook page, so if anyone wants to see them go there.

Tomorrow I have Enterprise coming to get me at 9 am @-) , then I have errands to run, lunch with a friend, and hopefully will pick up my car in the afternoon. Right now I have to wrap the last of my gifts that need to be mailed.

I hope everyone else had a better hump day than I did. I'm so excited about the good news on Amy's DF. Still praying for him and for Trixie to quit messing with her mind.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. Prayers also still being said for Lyresa's DF, Lisa's DF and Elise's DM.

That is wonderful news on Minka. I hope her appy gets better and you don't need the appetite stimulant. I'm sorry your day was so rough. I hope today is better.

Big bummer about the car...but honestly, all I can see here is that Minka is responding so well to her treatments :-D :-D :-D !!! What wonderful news...you go girl!! Hopefully her appy will pick up...that darn chemo is so hard on the appy. Yay that Sasha and Harvey are being low maintenance, too! Cinco is helping out by not cliff-diving....I'm sure he'll soon realize the pink floor isn't necessary, though.

I hope you get a chance to breath today!

What a day you had! I'm loving the Minka news. Did they say why they would evaluate as to whether to give another round of chemo? It is my understanding that you don't stop but go to every other week after induction. Maybe they will decide which drugs to use .

Now Cinco, it's okay to be mellow yellow as your mama is quite busy and getting ready to leave for the holidays but stinky pink is not at all necessary!!

Oh, geez, Tricia. I know it was a tough day. Frustrating day. Scream at the skies kind of day. But all I see is

I am dancing. (It ain't pretty, but that's how I feel!)

OK, Cinco. Give me an opportunity to work on those dance steps. C'mon down!

Harvey, Sasha. You get some not-so-fancy moves out of my feet, too. Gobble.
