Yesterday, still on the blue theme.

12/15 Recap:
AMPS 113 +7 149 +9 116
PMPS 105 +4 130 +9 119

Little girl is F L A T again today. But I expect the next reading to be considerably higher. We just got back from the vet. I went for a BP check and a recheck of the UPC ratio. Well, we get there and the parking lot is full. I park across the street and walk her across. Then there's a fool dog barking his head off inside the reception area, so I waited outside for a while. When the barky dog left, we went inside and waited, And waited. And waited. Half an hour later, Neko is shaking when I pull her out of the carrier. The technicians wanted to shave her leg for the BP check. i say No, she was stressed enough. Neko actually growled and hissed at the technicians. Neko doesn't do that at the vet. Ever. I was stressed out by this point. So no surprise when the result was 215. A year and a half ago her BP was 148. I don't blame the vet for being late, they had an emergency, but we probably shouldn't even have tried to get the BP by that point. I wasn't charged for it.

They did get urine via cysto to send out for the UPC ratio. I asked them to check her USG as it was a little low last time (1.030). The in house check said 1.045 so we are back to Neko normal for that. Whew! I'll get the UPC ratio result tomorrow. nailbite_smile

Neko is busy trying to clean her legs where they did the BP check. Mr. AC Tires got a visit shortly after we got home - she needed the comforting smell of rubber.

Re: 12/16 Neko AMPS 125 +7 126 +9 84 - back from vet

Hi Wendy ~O) :-D

LOVE the BG's today Neko. Well done, even with a vetty visit!

Wow on the whole vet thing. Poor Neko... Not too surprised to read that BP either, after all she had to go through before it was taken. I had that happen once when we did Mannie's BP too, He was way off the charts since he was so stressed by the time they took it. They too didn't charge me. Well, hope it will go smoother for you next time.

Have a great evening!

hate those visits that are just so-o-o stressful. Poor Neko.

I'd go look for a pic with a google search with cats and rubber but I'm afraid..... nailbite_smile
very afraid..... :-D

Re: 12/16 Neko AMPS 125 +7 126 +9 84 - back from vet

I'm sorry the vetty visit was so stressful. Barking dogs are the worst. Poor Neko. I'm glad she could get some comfort form Mr. AC Tires. I hope you get good test results back.

Re: 12/16 Neko AMPS 125 +7 126 +9 84 - back from vet

What a stressful day. It's hard enough going to the vet when you are in and out in a flash...poor Neko and poor you! Why did they want to shave her arm for her BP check? My vet uses Trix's tail and never asked to shave either Trix or Mario for BP checks. I hope all goes with the UPC ratio....and I hope you two are having a very relaxing evening!

Ugh on the waiting and the high BP. I wonder what yours was? Good news on USG, paws crossed for the UPC. Those are great BGs, especially after a vetty visit. Mr. AC tires must have helped.

Re: 12/16 Neko AMPS 125 +7 126 +9 84 - back from vet

I think it depends on which machine the vets uses as to whether they want to shave away some fur. They usually recommend it with the doppler which my vet doesn't use. The doppler is better for most cats but the cardiologist assured me that Max is big enough that it doesn't matter. There are almost always barking dogs where I go and the owners think it's funny to let them approach the cat carrier. I try to plan visits on a day when the surgeon's exam room is available because he is in surgery but am not always successful. They seem to think I am more stressed than Max because he acts like he isn't bothered unless he's been in a cage for hours. I'm glad you weren't charged for the BP check. I hope the visit doesn't have an effect on her evening cycle.

My vetty does use a doppler but has never shaved my guys....interesting.

When Neko last had her BP successfully checked, it was at the cardiologist. It was a doppler, and they did not shave her leg. And it was quiet, darker room with no dog barking. She's never been shaking at the vet before. Poor thing. The techs at this vet always ask to shave her for b/w, and I always say No to that too and they manage.

@Michelle, Rhiannon, Carla, Amy, Liz, Elise - thanks for stopping in and sharing your BP stories. Strangely enough, the 84 was after we got home. Neko's BG's don't seem to be affected by going to the vet. At least, not yet. :?

Aww, sorry to hear that Neko had a stressful day at the vet!! Poor girl. I'm sure she is glad to be home. I hope you both have a relaxing evening!

Re: 12/16 Neko AMPS 125 +7 126 +9 84 - back from vet

My vet uses a Doppler and they do it at the base of the tail and don't shave. I'm hoping it was just all that stress for Neko. Magen they do BP, they should take you immediately into a quiet room, let her sit quietly for ten minutes and then take 3-5 different tests.

Great news on the USG :-D :-D paws crossed on the UPC.

Re: 12/16 Neko AMPS 125 +7 126 +9 84 - back from vet

aw, that sounds like the most grim vet visit ever. how awful. Neko must've been very happy to get home to her tires. hahahahaha

one time punkin had low BGs and we had a scheduled vet visit. I had taken the meter and food with us. We were waiting in the lobby and someone brought a slobbery big dog - i think it was like a bulldog or something - over near us to get weighed on a floor scale. the dog was making a ton of noise and there was lots of action and movement around it. I thought it was interesting that punkin's BGs didn't reflect anything unusual going on. No stress highs at all.

i hope Neko and you both have a lovely calm evening tonight. Good report on the first round of tests, fingers crossed for tomorrow's results.

What an all around nightmare day at the vet-poor little girl!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: Sending calming vines and keeping our fingers and paws crossed for your test results nailbite_smile I too am glad Neko could find comfort in her Mr.AC Tires
