Let me get Sienne's eyes on Mikey's SS. He just throws a blue now and then and six cycles later....still high which tells me he probably needs a dosecrease but glad you didn't do it this morning. So let's get Sienne's thoughts as well.

If she does think you should increase, yes, it would be to 1.75u. That would be halfway between 2u and 1.5u. The most important thing is you note where you draw it and try to be as consistent as possible.
Also....if you do increase, you'll need to watch him very closely in case he starts to come down quickly.

I may be reading too much into what you wrote, but when you refer to Mikey being pink today, it sounds like you're thinking in terms of his PMPS. If that's the case, remember, Lantus dosing isn't based on the pre-shot numbers. I agree with Marje -- it looks like Mikey will drop into the blues and then bounce. You don't want to increase on a bounce. It can take up to 6 cycles for a bounce to clear. I think that Mikey may be clearing the bounce in that he's been in the yellows almost all of the AM cycle. He may be back in the pinks at PMPS -- it just may depend on how high his numbers are as to whether he's still bouncing. It may be OK to increase tonight but like Marje mentioned, just try to get a spot check in case Mikey decides to keep you busy.

Ok Jenn....looks like you're good to increase to 1.75u tonight (unless he comes screaming down before PMPS) and just be sure you get the +2 and see where he's headed.

Glad Sienne checked in. It's always good to get a second set of eyes.

I'm confused on why I am increasing him tonight to 1.75u when he's been yellow all day? because his AMPS was pink? His PMPS is 287 so I AM SHOOTING 1.75 tonight?

Jenn:

Remember we don't dose on the PS....we dose on the nadir and his nadirs are too high. So we need to try and bring it down some with additional insulin.

Did you shoot the 1.75u? We need to stay on top of his dosecreases.

hi jenn! got your pm about looking at his dose tonight. i think you could go either way, depending on your comfort zone. looks to me like the bounce is clearing. he had a 153 night before last (good job catching that!) and then hasn't gotten below 268 since then. if he were mine, i would increase by .25 to the new dose of 1.75.

if that feels uncomfortable to you, another option would be to wait til morning to increase and see what he does tonight. if he were, say, less than 200 now I would say waiting would be a good idea, but he's still nearly 300. personally, i'd increase.

does that all make sense?

Ok..50-120 is considered normal. Up to 200 and they are still in healing numbers for the pancreas. So, for Gracie, I consider "high" to be anything over 200 when she is not in healing numbers.

So ok....you are a bit late but go ahead and shoot and then pls be sure you get the +2. I'll check in cuz that will be 11:20 MST, 1:20 am EST.

Yes, I think I was confusing "normal numbers" for "lower numbers". I got out my notes about "bouncing" and for some reason it is so hard for me to grasp. Just means I need more practice!

I will check him at +2 which is 1:20 EST.

How can I get him closer to 11am for shot time tomorrow morning? Shoot at 11:05? I'm usually right on the 11a/11p mark (usually within 1-3minutes) To stay at 11:20 is too confusing.
