Wow! So awesome. I am thinking back a few weeks and remembering how upset you were about all of this, and now here you are celebrating. Truly an inspiration to any who are feeling discouraged.

Congratulations. You have done a wonderful thing for a vulnerable animal and saved a life. Enjoy the victory!

Woohoo Congrats Juliet and Silver!!!!!

Sorry I'm late to this party as I am for so many here lately, but losing my Angel really took the wind out of my sails. But I promise I will be playing catch up this week. :-D If I can keep the computer out of DH's hands long enough to get some of my stuff done on it. There is a second computer here but this one is the only one that is hooked up to the internet (the other is non-wifi compatible ....its a dinosaur) and of course right now we both need the one that is hooked up to the web. :YMSIGH:

Now as I tell everyone that has a kitty go OTJ, go back and reread all your original posts when you were still a brand newbie. :-D

Now as far as no more daily testing...well not quite yet. You still want to test him a couple times a day for the next month, then scale that back to once a week and then finally you get to only test once and awhile. Maxwell has been OTJ for 4+ years and I still test him religiously once a month, normally on his anniversary date. Just to keep an eye on things and spot a problem before it becomes something major. He has thrown me some out of range numbers before and after a quick trip to the vet's he has always gone right back into remission without having to start insulin again. The last time it was because of a bad tooth, got the sucker pulled and did a course of antibiotics and he was right back to double digits again.

Also now that Silver is OTJ he is still a diabetic and always will be, he is just now a diet controlled one, so no getting lazy and going back to dry food or high carb snacks for the boy.

Oh I think I will give his ears a break.....Julie and Punkin said test once a week for a few weeks then once a month forever..... that works.
