we took break today for various reasons.. ❤️‍🩹 back on track tonite.

ok.. mobile vet came by and she was very nice, liked her, but she also could not explain his thirst….. she thought it could be food or treat related/sodium and she suggested trying the transdermal as maybe theres an issue w him swallowing the pills (?.. this what she said..) and said also if that doesnt help the thirst, then its possibly not the meds. which is valid. but maybe it causes thirst no matter the route. but ill need to ask Chewy if the transdermal has different side effects, which i expect. but maybe Amlodipine generally in his case again can cause that.. but its hard to know. there is like an alternative med someone suggested (thank you!!! will be referring back..) and he needs BP meds but idk…. no one can help us so far knowing if its something else otherwise…….. like how many ppl can we take him to?.. keeping an eye on his weight but idk. it feels hopeless at times, this particular subject.

his BP numbers are trending upwards.. thinking to put him back on an additional 1/8 (1/2 tab) see how he does.. maybe side effects wont be so terrible.. getting less but a little more. aside frm the hideous thirst.. hoping it doesnt worsen.. im happy to bypass the gi tract. cutting these up tho will be fun. 🤡😝.. (Wedgewood compounds .625 mg tabs too. gonna see on that if finding transdermal doing the same.. or maybe just changing. or just finding out what it is would be nice……. 😑)

sometimes i find it hard to stand the stumbling in the dark most of the time.. just hoping to come across a breakthrough. one thing settles. another pops up this year. we’ll be happy to leave it behind. also. treatments can take weeks sometimes to materialize the extent of a therapeutic dose. like the BP meds.. its a tough wait. smh.

anyway.. having a mobile vet you can call if needed is nice. recommend. think will try the transdermal. might up his pill meds, for a few days, see how numbers look.. ANYONE have any suggestions on placements on the body outside the ear for the gel PLZ lmk.. cuz i aint touching his testing ear. 🫤🫤🫤🫤🫤… (has anyone found its been ok testing there w a cream on it too?.. idk.. some irritation can occur)
shaving an area on his little neck im considering.. (?)

happy holidays everyone.. we’re clearing out some things and trying to put up decorations, plus everything.. 🎄❤️‍🩹 doing our best.

ugh. 🫶🏼

I wish I had anything substantive or helpful to offer! But I wanted to say that I very much hear and feel your sentiment about finding it hard to stand the stumbling in the dark. It gets really rough, especially when the wellbeing of a critter you love is in the mix. You are very much not alone. ❤️ I really hope someone here has more useful thoughts.

I’m so glad the mobile vet was a good move for both of you. That’s such great news 💖
Maybe make a post about where to do tradermal meds on the main health page. Might get more eyes there.

Hope you can get to enjoy some holiday time and enjoy your decorations 🥰

You do such a great job caring for your sweet Pudge. Sending lots of hugs from me and Ivy 💖💕🥰😻

Ooh! I know this one! 😅
I had a cat that did transcended methamazole, but couldn't have it in her ears. She had polyp growths in both and they were very sensitive to touch. Someone on the hyperthyroid board mentioned they'd given it behind the neck, so I did a little research. I found there are 2 spots that are good for that, that they can't get to and lick. It it where the epidermis is thinnest under the skin. It actually makes sense, because that's where they talk people to put fleas meds on cats. Right between the shoulders, and you can also do right behind the neck.
My cat was taking the smallest amount of the thyroid drug, and giving it to her there, her numbers balanced or perfectly. I grabbed a cat pic and pointed the 2 spots out. The 2nd image shows why these 2 places work. Because it's where the blood vessels also come closest to the surface. So the meds will easily seep into the bloodstream.:)
You will have to shave a spot to apply it. I would shave one large enough (but still very small) to be able to apply in 1 area in the am, then apply next to that spot in the pm. Since they said to alternate ears.
Hope this helps.
