 We tried appetite stimulants last night and although he ate up a storm, by morning he looked like he felt worse & seemed grumpy, so I decided it was time for a vet exam. The past few meds we've tried just haven't given him the bounce I've expected to see. Turns out he has a significant mass in his abdomen, the vet said there's no way he's going to want to eat with what she could feel in there. I've already ruled out surgery & aggressive treatments for a number of reasons. She said she didn't think it would be cruel to bring him back home for a couple days and see if I can keep him comfortable, so I decided to do that, rather than have him euthanized today - I just couldn't face that. I have a PTS appt for Sat morning, but will of course take him in sooner if he is miserable. Most of the time lately he seems moderately content, just wants to sleep under his blanket. I have reservations about PTS if they are not actually in distress, but it seems like it would be cruel to drag it out for longer than a couple more days if he's not eating and just wasting away, and I'm sure whatever's going on inside him is at best uncomfortable. I'm going to go back to the Cerenia, that's the only med I've seen lately where he has looked like he felt better on it, and of course continue Budesonide & insulin to keep him as comfortable as I can. I have some Bupe on hand if needed.
