? 12/14 Molly AMPS 214 Question regarding Diarrhea

Does pumpkin help diarrhea or is that too high carb? I have can here and it says, 10g for a 1/2 cup, so wonder the calculation for a tsp mixed in regular LC food?

Pumpkin and/or squash (such as baby food squash) can help. As Carla said, you may need to give the s. boullardi - if that's the probiotic you are giving - more than twice a day to start.

Hi Adrienne. I have been catching up on your threads about Molly and I am really upset to see that she has cancer. I just can’t believe it. She’s so young. How was she exactly diagnosed with this cancer? Was it only via an ultrasound? No biopsy or fine needle aspiration? Because I am wondering whether she has small cell lymphoma or large cell lymphoma. There is a big difference in the way those two things are treated. do you know what type of cancer she has? What drugs is she currently getting? I see that you recently started prednisone. I have had a few cats with small cell lymphoma, who did very well on prednisone and chemo, which was Leukeran (chlorambucil) and did very well, and one cat with large cell lymphoma, who took Lomustine, but he wasn’t really strong enough at that point to handle it, so we could not continue with that therapy. I see Molly has diarrhea that’s been difficult to treat. When dod she start the prednisolone? Hopefully that is going to help. Metronidazole may also help her a lot. I currently have a cat who has diarrhea that we have not been able to diagnose the cause of — she does have much improved stool, while she is taking metronidazole — if I start weaning her off of that, The diarrhea comes back. I have been using freeze dried pumpkin and various probiotics including s. boulardii on her as well, but when I stop the metronidazole, the diarrhea comes back. She is not a candidate for prednisone because she has a heart condition. Praying for your sweet Molly!

Hi Suzanne,
Molly started her diarrhea a day before I started her on the pred. I've been giving her probiotic, but it's not helping. I'm just wondering if it's the cancer.
Thank you for the prayers.
