Good evening,

almost one week on 2.75 IU and we just saw one blue number. Might be we didn't catch one without the libre but chances are slim. It concerns me we did go up with the dose so much and her bg gets worse instead of better.

Binies ears look quite bruised from all the poking but with your great help, I might found a better solution like the 23g safety lancets I used. I free poke with syringe needels now I got from my vet for this purpose. My vet suggested that in the beginning and I forgot about it, after I was too intimidated by the long needel. I read in the forum today that one should poke with the bevel up and with the syringe it is even easier. I will see, if that is a technique for us. If it works, I will try to get 28 or 30G needels.

The skin on the libre site starts to look better. I bought arnica essence today and apply it diluted with water on the scabs and also on her bruised ears now. She seems to enjoy the procedure and purrs all the way through. Her favourite treatment is the coconut oil massage. Maybe because she is allowed to lick my fingers after it.

Hope everyone has a relaxed Caturday! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

From what I can see of the tests you have, I don’t think you’ve missed anything. A cat needs as much insulin as it needs, and it could just be she’s getting a little too comfy in the higher numbers. That’s great news that the skin is looking better.

Oh wow, a spa day for miss Binie with a tasty treat at the end. I'm really glad her skin looks better. I use 30G lancets for poking Bell. I think the mental toll on me is harder than the discomfort for Bell (easy for me to say). She seems to dislike me just messing with her ears more so than the actual poke. If Binie lets you warm up her ears before hand it is even easier. I still am bad at it, I get too afraid I'm going to poke too hard and end up having to do it multiple times. Bell is a real trooper, Binie sounds like she is as well.

Thank you Christie for this helpful remark! I saw her bad numbers as a sign, that there is something wrong but maybe not. Sounds like she needs an increase....:(

Thank you Seth for sharing your experience! I ordered some 30G lancets online and hope they arrive soon. Maybe tomorrow I get the 28G - so already better. I have a whole cupboard with medical equipment already. A friend said it looks like I want to open up a medical clinic. Yesterday I also had to poke three times, because I tried to do it very soft. First time nothing came, second time not enough, third time bloodbath. I think I can improve my skills....
