Good morning. Bella is doing well, still jumping and trying to get any food she can. She's been a little more active the last few days, it's so cold outside that the heat is blowing constantly and I think she might get too hot in front of the vent! And she sleeps well at night so she's more awake during the day.
She started scratching her ear again, I can see black stuff in it again, so I'm going to call for a vet visit this week, she might need something more that the liquid I use to clean her ears.
I am not sure why her pre-shot numbers are so high, and then she goes down fast. Mystery!

Hi Cecile.
Glad to hear Bella is doing well. I like when Butch is active too! :)
I hope that the vet can provide something more to use to clean Bella's ears.
It is a mystery to me too. I am not sure why but at times have to consistently feed.
Wishing you both a nice day and safe surfing, Bella!

I am not sure, but it is usually in the spring when she has allergies, and in winter when t's very dry and she stays by the heat vent. She was tested for ear mites a few times and it was always negative, I hope it's still the case.
She is not too bothered when I clean them, I think she even likes it because it probably itches so much.

Hi Cecile,

so great she is doing well and jumps! :cat: I am sorry, her ears bother her. Good, she lets you clean it.

I have a theory about the fast drop after the injection but maybe it is nonsense: In summer, Binie had these crazy fast drops and early nadirs. I read that it has to do with the heat, the insulin gets absorbed faster. As in the US most people have AC, it seems to be not an issue there. But as we don't have it that much in Europe, diabetics (humans and pets) have to deal with that. I wonder if she gets very warm, lying in front of the vent? Maybe just a stupid theory.....

Hope you have a great weekend! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Well, she might, who knows. We don't use the AC too much, it gets hot in the summer, and she loves laying in the sun, sometimes outside on the very hot deck. She's a heat-loving creature.

That is interesting! Did you also notice in summer, that her insulin hits harder? Binie loves to lye on the warm and sometimes hot tiles on the terrace. I always felt it speeds the insulin absorbtion up.

Would be curious what your experience is! I have to admit I fear another summer with insuline.... :nailbiting:
What really helped for that is what Bhooma @Bandit's Mom advised me to do a long time ago, give her several small meals early in the cycle. Bella eats at pre-shot, +2, +3 and +4, several small meals, and that really helped with the rapid "diving". I could try to feed her at +1, probably (I am thinking aloud here).
