Re: 12/13 Webster AMPS=331 +2=257

hmm, somehow you've got 3 threads going! I'm thinking this is the current because it's got a +2 in the subject line. I assumed he'd be dropping after that, but no - I see at +4.5 he's back up to 305. Looks like it's going to be a bounce cycle, so you could probably test a little less often than you do sometimes.

Strange.. Well I saw that I had 2 for today, couldn't locate the third. I'm not sure how that happened. Anyway.. I deleted the extra one for 12/13 that I found.

Yes, I thought today's numbers were sort of strange. He started in the low 300's, dropped, and then came right back up. I'm going to test him at +2 just to confirm that it wasn't a food spike (although his last bite of food was about 1 hour prior to the 305 reading).

I agree... It does sound like a bounce. Well.. I just might have to take advantage of this bounce and enjoy a day out of the house.

I bet Webster will enjoy the save some strips day and I know you will enjoy a day away from home without worries! :-D

Back to work soon though, okay Webster?

Absolutely.. Well, I just took his +6 and he's down a little. At least he's not in the 400's already.

Hindsight always makes thing so clear. he's still in a bounce from the pretty blues and maybe greens night before last.

Looks like last time he cleared the bounce on the 7th cycle after the blue run.

Hi there

I notice from your ss that Webster has been flirting with ketones for a few days.
How is his appetite today? Has his weight been stable?

Appetite has been stronger than ever. He looks "fuller" than he did after the DKA episode.

 I posted on yesterday's condo thinking it was today's.

I'm glad he's eating but try and get as much water in him as you can through his food. That should help as well.

Thank you Marje. I have been watering down each meal with 3/4+ cup of water and leave a bowel of water out for him. He actually seems to like it a bit on the watery side because it helps him lap it up. He had a difficult time getting accustom to the switch from dry to wet food because of its consistency. I believe that watering it down helped with this and also was a great way to ensure that he was getting fluids.

I was reading your notes (ss) and noticed on 11/15 he started a course of Clavamlox and also buprenorphine. What was the reason?

Thanks for looking back on Webster's notes and asking. That's a great question.

I asked the vet about the two meds and her response was that although she couldn't identify a specific infection, she wanted to be cautious and give him the Clavamlox. As for the buprenorphine, she believed that me may be in a little pain. Thinking back, while bringing him to the vet for DKA and shortly after his release, I recall him faintly whining whenever you touched him which I'm guessing that he was in pain.. What are your thoughts on this?
