Wow- what a week it has been- and not a good one! Last week we were home for 24 hours and his bladder became blocked and back he went to the vet. Finally got to bring him home this afternoon. He has been without the catheter for a little over 24 hours and I am praying a lot and hoping he makes it this time. He certainly looks and acts like he feels better. He's eating and drinking good but still not putting out as much urine as I would like for him too.

The vet wants him on the RX food(for the UTI). He hasn't tested over 200 since his first day at the vet and they aren't concerned. They seem to think he will go back down to normal once he gets well. He also told me he knows I know how to test him and what to watch for so they aren't worried about his blood sugar at all, just getting this UTI cleared up. If he keeps getting blocked he is looking at surgery. I am hoping and praying that changing his diet will prevent this if we can just get him over this bad UTI.I plan to let him get settled back in for a day or so and then test him. Poor guy has been poked enough. His own sister(Bobbie) hissed at him tonight. Sadie(blind) doesn't realize it's his buddy back at home and hisses as soon as he catches his scent- he smells like the vets office.

I have to say, as much as I don't want him to be diabetic, that it feels good to know that my vet approves of us testing at home and being proactive in Bobbies(and possibly Judah's ) diabeties management!

Thought I would give you all an update.

Sending prayers for Judah, I've no experience with this condition but I hope all goes well and he is feeling better soon and no surgery is needed.

best wishes
jeanne

Thanks Jeanne!

Things are still looking optimistic this morning. He is going and I just went in the bathroom and found him flat of his back napping- a sure sign he is feeling better. He is complaining about having to be in there too.
